I find it hard to blame them, If you have any extra time, waste it. That's main stream culture now, it's what everyone does including people who are traditionally successful. It's the number one thing everyone gets from phone use, fast food, media etc. It just speeds up time. From being chronically overstimulated, everyone now abhors having free time.
I think we're stuck in a weird death cult where everyone has accepted the idea that time should flow as fast as possible as a new ethical standard. Anything that makes time flow faster is good, it's what people build their life around, and anything that makes it go slow (anything boring) should be transformed until it fits the same mold. In that context an abundance, as in having no job, just means you have to be more degenerate than anyone else to be a normal person following trends that everyone around you is constantly signaling to you.
Ironically, the people who go to these shop openings, they probably feel like they're doing something productive and worthwhile since their life is normally so much more degenerate. To them this is the equivalent of a healthy meal, exercise or studying.
