The thing is, even if belittling other men for their wives past sexual history or how they compare to him undoubtedly hits a nerve, he's the one that's making offspring on a long enough timeline.
You get the satisfaction of maintaining ego and talking shit; he gets continuation of his evolutionary line.
Now personally, I have a big enough ego that I would never accept being the second best choice or the one who is settled for. I'm probably borderline narcissistic too. But it doesn't really matter, the truth is the truth outside of our egos and/or morals. Just like we men categorize women differently for whom we'd like to fuck or be the mother of our children, so do women with men.
