Yep exactly. Also people (men and women alike) who don't train legs have thoroughly squishy asses versus an ass that's got a firm foundation with a little layer of padding. They might look similar from afar but then you touch them and for me personally it's very disappointing when the ass is completely squishy without any firmness underneath. It's along the same lines as people who wear fraudulent workout clothing but never actually go to the gym so they look like picrel when the clothes come off

Aesthetics is just your opinion man, and athletics all depends on the sport. Big legs are counter productive for boxers and MMA fighters because they fight by weight class and upper body strength is more important than lower body strength in these sports. Lower body strength matters for fighters, but has diminishing returns and if it bumps them up a weight class then it is a big net negative. Compare to something like a rugby player or NFL running back, who could never compete unless their leg strength was elite level.

Their training was fantastic back in the day; they just trained arms supplementally as being so tall, and lengthy, they never fought anyone taller, so they could get away with a strategy of arm punching, hence why they had such hypertophy focused upper bodies. They didn’t need to generate power from the legs moving upwards, in the way a shorter fighter like Tyson one, who was a mass of leg muscle, but instead like Tommy Hearns, they had to punch down to hit their opponents. Legs did not benefit them in the way it would other fighters, very context dependent. Plus the additional lactic acid buildup and basic needs of carrying extra leg muscle purely for aesthetic reasons makes no sense there.
