It's this kind of smoothbrain thinking that creates the endless retard echobox. Someone says "science" and you immediately think lab coat and start denouncing all science as if everything you know and are using right now wasn't a product of it, and can't see that experimentation based on observation isn't the core part of it, not some dude looking at a spreadsheet.

Science really needs to be denounced though. Bodybuilding is one of the areas where science massively trails heuristics. This is also the case in psychology some might argue. But there are not many arenas where science is just straight up inferior and this is one.

Lots of people running self experiments is just way faster at iterating and science is hamstrung by ethical concerns that self experimenters are not.

It's cool that he built this whole thing as a science lab so he could do his own experiments but why did he make it so claustrophobic? No windows at all? I'd feel like a rat in a maze in there or like I'm exercising in some kind of post apocalyptic underground bunker

If I had the money to make my own gym it'd be a nice large building with plenty of open space and some big windows for lots of natural light

>more smoothbrain thinking
Again, you see the word science and automatically think some dude in a labcoat. Science is a method of exploring the natural world. It is not a rigid institution that you think it is. Rigid institutions do employ science, as do individuals. Nearly all the greatest scientists in all of history made their biggest discoveries independently. Their findings were then repeated (verified) by others.

The studies are mostly dogshit because of sample sizes (often like 10ish participants) and dumb methodology because the scientists don't actually know anything about lifting
He claims he wants to run studies of possibly hundreds of people (I don't know how he'd manage that, I expect it to be closer to maybe a couple dozen)
An interesting idea he mentioned was correlating EMG activation to actual hypertrophy, both measured by his fancy machines, to establish whether it can be used as a reliable metric for comparing exercises. That's something we don't currently know and seeing as "science based" youtubers like to throw around EMG this, EMG that, it'll be interesting to see whether there's any validity to it

The issue is not "science" per se but the fact that all of these non-STEM meme PhD guys have no idea what methodology STEM fields use to be "objective" yet are hellbent on applying it to fields that arent as quantitative like bodybuilding or sports in general
"science" influence on weightlifting should stop at biology, endocrinology and biomechanics (only when it comes to form and avoiding injury, which has been figured out a century ago already, not hypetrophy or strength).
The regular STEM approach of theory-experimentation-establishing a law simply cannot work when there's way too many unknown and uncontrollable variables that cant be quantized and especially not when replicating results consistently can be extremely challeging

Any emotional reaction beyond general disinterest in them as people or annoyance at the spam is odd and suggests some personal issue with the poster. The response to Mike is more understandable because of how exhibitionist and duplicitous he is, but the seething about Nipples who is basically inoffensive just smacks of jealousy.
Disliking them is fine, mocking them is fine, having a cartoony malding meltdown about them is weird.

We do know though. He'll conclude that it doesn't matter if the number was high when you're not putting any stress on the muscle and it doesn't matter if it's low when the muscle is significantly contributing to moving hella weight. Then we'll say no shit that's obviously how it would work.
