Only a tiny percentage of what i learned about lifting i learned from him. Most notable i remember is him saying a weight is a stimulus untill it's not. That might seem like a dumb sentence, but sometimes sentences need to be dumbed down for the masses to understand it. Means you don't have to chase the next weight every time; nor does it mean you need to take it easy. Most niche youtubers (i count lyle among them) have at least a couple things you can learn.

I listened to a ton of his stuff a while back while cubiclemaxxing in my wage cage and while I mostly agree with basically everything he says at a certain point you’ve heard it all and his angry ranty way of speaking just gets kind of grating. If I ever do a serious cut I will use him as a resource though, as his dieting info seems to be a cut above everyone else.

Most of what he says is accurate, but it's pretty much all just conventional wisdom that you could find anywhere else, minus his unnecessarily assholish delivery.

His essentially creating the meta of modern natural weightlifting is an achievement. It's not that we put him on a pedestal it's that he's so alone in being right it just looks like it. Hes not bad, about 60-70% correct which is about the best you can ask for these days. None of these people are going to be 100% right about everything they say. Double check what they say, try the advice out and see if it works for you, and see if other people are saying similar things. Most of this stuff you can try out in a regular gym over a period of 9-12 weeks and see if it works for you. Track some data points, be dilligent and consistent.

Lyle is bipolar and goes full grandiose narcissist like Mike when he's manic. That's probably why he despises Mike so much - Mike's behavior reminds him of the worst of himself.

The biggest complaints/criticisms against Lyle are these:
1. He's an unapologetic asshole
2. He allegedly wanked his dogs on video but nobody wants to share the videos for us to laugh at so who knows
3. He was an endurance athlete (skater) but even with his 1000 IQ he failed to properly turn that intelligence into a proper endurance training protocol for himself and never won shit (just like Mike) - blames his genetics for his failure (just like Mike)
4. He does stupid shit when he's manic (he literally bought a strip club and ran it into the ground due to his retardation and went dead broke because of it)
5. The malignant narcissism - he raised $10k or some shit for a dog's surgery and to this day acts like he saved the entire fucking planet because of it

He's pretty great at talking about what actually matters in lifting vs what doesn't matter. He's a successful coach so he has insights into the human factor and what can lead to motivation and what can lead to disappointment more than most influencers do.
- Setting yourself up to work out consistently over long periods of time with as few injuries as possible is important.
- Setting yourself up to eat decently over long periods of time is important
- Using large amounts of effort for each set to where your bar or machine slows down significantly is important.

The details about how you set all this up for you changes from person to person, but the fundamentals are the same.
