How do you move up a weight class? As in, at what pace do you get your kgs in. Am 180cm/81kg, shooting for 88kg in about 1-2 years, trying not to get fat along the way (bodyfat% is about 18% according to navy method, would try to not go above 20%). Just gain weight linearly, or cut at some point?

Rotated to highbar, hit mere 190kg (atg? idk), but way comfier than lowbar and it's nice to fail at the lockout vs at the bottom. Did ghr, reverse hyper, core.
Next lower is dynamic day lower + quads, gonna do highbar low box squat with bands and snatch grip high pulls + quads.

Yes, strength is neurological, and yes, in a single individual, given a certain neurological adaptation, it then becomes a function of the cross-section of a muscle. It's usually put like this because those are the factors that can be manipulated though training and nutrition.
But when confronting individuals, predetermination and genetics definitely play a role, and more factors get into play. Which means we're not only talking about a different predisposition to neurological adaptation and general hypertrophy, but also things like different ratios of the muscle fibers and their arrangement and attachment points.

Hi I'm new. How do I stop the bar from crashing on my collarbone with heavier weights? I can power clean 115 no problem prolly 10 times in a row, then j get to 145 and maybe once... Anything after that and I usually have the bar crash on my lower neck and end up in pain for an hour and stop doing power cleans.
I can front squat 225 and ohp 150 so I think it's a technique issue.

Without video there's nothing we can really do. You might be swinging it out a bit or just not keeping the bar close enough. In general, the closer it is and the more vertical it is the better. You'll never hit perfect but try to keep it as close as you can. Are you power cleaning or full cleaning it?

Protip: circuit everything with abs and low back, those muscles recover very fast and you not only get stronger abs/low back, you also get more test/gh release if instead of resting between sets you hit those.

Fair enough, but I personally think the technique autism inherent to weightlifting is a bit of a meme. I do BJJ and people get hyper autistic about technique when really it just gets better over time anyway and in competition its almost never good looking technique. I personally think just getting the numbers up and worrying about technique issues as they crop up is a better strategy. If the lift is pushing your limits its probably not going to look good, and if youβre not trying to push your limits then what are you doing? Obviously lower loads should look nicer but oly lifts are safer than other lifts to go for heavy 1rm and failed reps. I feel way more comfortable seriously testing the limit with my jerk than I ever would with bench or a 1rm squat since the consequences of failure are a bit easier to avoid.

Unironically a modified starting strength, most beginner weightlifting programs suck. The caveat is that you really need a coach for the classic lifts, other than that literally just do starting strength with highbar squats and clean deadlifts. I should mention that linear progression doesn't apply to the snatch and C+J like squats, you need to take those slow with progression to keep your technique solid and avoid going to snap city. But really you should get a coach and a big back squat.

I was actually a member of a weightlifting club for about 6 months many years ago and I remember the technique
I didn't really follow the program though because I thought I knew better and was always doing more and adding stuff
I ran smolov at the same as the program and was taking clen and lots of ephedrine
I overtrained and became weak for months and months
it was amazing seeing my strength tank despite hard constant training
but I do think the programming is weightlifting gyms is geared for advanced trainees

I think people with tight shoulders and hips and stiff hamstrings don't even bother because it means months of mobility just to get into the basic positions

The other major advantage of a coach/club is just training alongside other athletes who are better than you.
