not even playing games anymore, but I program for work. At some point I got back pain from doing the shrimp for 8-9 work hours straight, looked into exercise, and just started lifting. It's nice, you see slow progress on the numbers and I have 0 back pain, it all went away about 1-2 months after I started. I just lift for around 40 mins 3 times a week and I have never looked and felt better

Fitness is an endless game that gives you irl achievements and unlocks irl abilities. I work with computers in a female dominated office and im known as the fit jacked guy (even tho im very dyel by /fit/ standards). I constantly mog the other fat and skinnyfat males and whenever theres something heavy to lift or carry, all the females go directly to ask it to me. At least MMOs teach you interesting stuff. Scheming, exploits, how and who to trust, dedication, economics, gaslighting, etc etc. Knowledge and cleverness gains.
Then puzzles and competitive stuff like fighting games and tactical shooters work your brain muscles (reaction speed, memory, pattern recognition and stuff)
If you weren't going outside for that time anyways it's way better than staring at a screen and doing nothing. Or being a Sims/Story-driven/Cookie clicker/Gacha player all that time. You'll be literally brain dead by today with either choice.

i lift and read and do way more creative stuff than draw pictures, like carpentry and welding, and i am talking with my friends right now. I just worked with a former drug dealer with bullet hole scars for 2 months. a friend i work with previously worked on star wars.

What are MMOs even like now? I used to play insane amounts of WoW back in the 2000s, and a bit in 2010s on private servers, I really liked the small tight communities people had there. Feenix servers were awesome, even with all their bugs.

server lobbies used to persist. and for cs and dota it was all about rep and banlists. so everyone was part of the community and it was easy to make new friends. now it's corpo hosted queues and people hardly communicate and bad actors dont get banned.

gaming was so much better when community servers and shit existed. IRC, mumble, ventrilo, teamspeak, raidcall, and banlist scrims.

Mostly what happened is the birth of e-celebs/influncers and gamers realized that they could make a lot more money if they were also /fit/.
