Firefighter fitness challenge
The firefighter department in my city is going to make an event at the end of November where people have to climb 30 floors carrying 30kg of weight to experience what they have to go through.
I have no intention of being a firefighter but i thought it would be fun to participate, how should i train for it, i have a vest and a backpack i can load up with 30kg, should i do tons of push ups and squats, should i train cardio?
I have 1 month and a half and i want to mog at the event, what do?

It doesnt matter because you'll never put in the work. If you really wanted it, you'd already be lifting and not worried about some arbitrary timeline.
If someone does tell you a timeframe you find acceptable, you'll go the gym then quit in a few months when you see no progress and then go back to making "how to achieve" threads with a pic of Gooky the anime character waiting for someone to "redpill" you on how to get jacked without doing anything. loser

By climb you mean walk up? I trained rucking quite a bit, most important part is getting your body used to bearing all that weight. 65lbs is nothing to shake a stick at, your feet will hurt, your back will get sore, your thighs will burn and calves will ache. It took me 6mo to be able to go very far with even 40lbs. Most important part is getting yourself under the load and being used to moving with it. There's more than just muscle strength at pay, your connective tissue isn't used to it. So train your upper body as you can, do runs and be sure to ruck. Ruck should be the goal, but you'll find your body is too sore from the weight to train while the heart is ready, that's time for low impact cardio. You'll probably not be able to mog, but you'll be able to be finish fine.

who are these people trying to delude lol
firefighters arent carrying 30 kgs up 30 flights of stairs, they're at the station working out and sleeping
buildings never burn anymore and if they catch fire they let that shit burn to the ground and pour water on the rubble

If you got a stair machine, use that and do the I think Toronto tv tower challenge.
Farmers carries are also a good addition.

Mostly you just need you legs and core muscles not to tired out.

Kettlebell racked carries, basically what you want to spam, do racked squats and overhead presses. Its perfect for this sort of workout.

go to the gym, take a dumbbell to the stairmaster, climb 30 floors.
>tons of pushups and squats
it's a loaded carry. do that.
>train cardio
climbing stairs is pretty good cardio

Stair jumps could be good cardio for the event though.

if you are reasonably fit then just train the exact same thing, put on that vest and backpack and climb stairs as much as you can

These are all terrible suggestions
Just train general fitness - barbell LP and then later a bit of cardio - and then a couple times right before the event practice climbing stairs with a pack.

he has only 6 weeks though, couple times before the event is basically now

I would say the best bet is to train the event. So, doing stairs. Even if you run or do other cardio, stairs are slight different.

So, do something like 30 minutes of stairs 3x week. Probably start unloaded.

And train loaded carries. Start on flat land. Just get used to walking under a load.

My gut is telling me that I might be best to train stairs and loaded carries separately, for a few weeks. And then combine them closer to the event day.

30 floors with 30 kg on your back? Is this supposed to be something you have to train really hard for? I'm extremely DYEL (I bench lmao1pl8), and I could go and do this *right now*. I know, because I'm an /out/fag and I regularly carry 30-50 lbs on my back over rough terrain, off trail, ducking around briars and slipping in mud. And I work with people fatter and slower than me who do the same. Like, shit, would I be pretty tired at the end of the climb? Yeah, I would, for sure, it's exhausting. But that climb is, I don't know how to put it, it's hard, but it's not difficult. Just being able to do it is not something you should brag about.

Now, if you were competing on time, that might really impressive. Speed rucking is pretty brütal.

You would faint after 5 floors faggot, purely climbing stairs is not at all comparable to fucking around in the woods.

So do 6 weeks of SS with cardio starting week 4 and then do 2 stair climbs the week before
General fitness > specificity, and this way he will have fitness after

Not every large building has an elevator big enough to carry firefighters+equipment, and there are lots of multi story buildings that don't have elevators. I work EMS in a major city where due to grandfathered building codes we have 4+ story buildings without elevators and staircases so narrow you can barely use a stair chair. The old buildings that do have elevators have such low weight limits that if you're lucky 3 people in gear can be in them.
That being said, a lot of the machismo of climbing stairs in full gear didn't start until after 9/11 when nationalist fervor led people to doing a "challenge" of climbing 110 flights in full gear to honor the attack.
