Its the same thing though, but the chances of you spamming the same weight over and over again and the reps going up from 8-10 to 20 is NOT going to happen in reality.
The realistically only viable way to take your 5-10 rep max in to your 20 rep max is by progressively overloading WEIGHT at 5-10 rep range.
An example: I was stuck at 6-8 pull-ups with bodyweight for years, until I started doing weighted pull-ups, and I progressively overloaded to a 40kg+ pullup for 6-8 reps, and guess what happen? Suddenly I was able to do 20+ pull-ups with my bodyweight. I was NEVER going to achieve a 20+ rep pullup set at bodyweight without having overloaded the lift in the 6-8 rep range
