Yes Gracie rigged their UFC fights and gracie got BTFO by Kimura quite badly and also another judoka during Pride (yoshida)
It's literally an inferior form of jujitsu and judo at the end. It's what cross-shitting is to olympic weightlifting, cope for underachievers and genetic dead ends

It's fine if you're looking for something to do /fit/ wise where you can just hang out with the boys bros being dudes, with sometimes a girl or two in the mix.
There's also tons of BJJ & grappling tournaments here and there if you wish to compete.

kinda shit for MMA, where whatever other grapplers - wrestlers especially - will win by points by laying on top of you. In the old rules they would just 12-6 elbow and soccer kick and stomp you.

it's MMA, you have guys like Georges Saint Pierre who were first and foremost Karate experts but then their fighting style evolved to be almost entirely all grappling.

I got my purple belt about 2 years ago and quit last year. I think it is good knowledge to have, and youll easily beat anyone without grappling knowledge, but past purple belt theres a huge dropoff in real-world applicability.
