if i were doing an exercise for 12 reps every 3 days and wanted to increase the intensity, which should be the method?
>shorten the interval down to every 2 days
or
>increase the reps to 20 every 3 days
(assuming i cant switch to heavier weights)

Do 2 sets with same weight, add more weight on 3rd.
Do not rest for long before last set or you will get injured. Do not have any distractions around you.

why can't you add more weight? maybe slower reps with a pause at the bottom would help

You should try arbitrarily doing shit 2 days in a row. Not ad infinitum but it often builds harder muscle idk why hopefully not calcium/cortisol buildup, maybe because i often do this with low reps. I rarely get hypertrophy to 100% in one day let alone one session and am way too lazy to be doing high effort dropsets for more than one exercise.

Add a notch of weight and go to failure every set.

That's volume not intensity.

Just do dips and pullups for now, you can mmc different muscles and go to muscular failure with each respective one usually best to do chest/delts/tris then lats/rear delts/bis. Legs idk you can jump lunge and nordic curl things lower back and traps is basically impossible with calisthenics.

You are not high intensity, you are doing opposite.
You should do super heavy weighted dips to break your ribs in half.
