They can work well but they require a lot of fine tuning. Ultra-low fat diets (under
30g/day)are generally crap since there's no way to get DHA and you're relying on this tight cycle of eating over a certain amount to create fat then under to metabolize it. Just too many problems to be practical unless you have 1000+ kcal differences in your day to day tdee.

Carbs can generally scale as high up as you have activity for because they're so readily metabolized so you could easily have more or less static protein and fat but scaling carbs. So your diet is only "high carb" so long as you have high activity but eating high carb on its own doesn't really make you lean.

I started doing it 2 weeks ago to lower my libido and get rid of my porn addiction but so far hasn’t worked, I did the carnivore all meat diet plus later milk and my libido was so low I went 3 months without masturbating to porn (but I honestly think it was just because of the insane calorie deficit because I lost 14kgs). Anyway I will continue for a while and see what happens.

he's Australian so he actually rides 160km a day, also he doesn't. but if a significant portion of his calories where protein and fat, they would not contribute to his performance on a bike, so carbs win either way.

Yes. High carb/no fat/low protein diet is god tier for fat loss. Unfortunately, the tradeoff is that you will, at best, retain the muscle you have now, but can't really build any more.

I'm oversimplifying a lot here, but...
FGF21 is a "master regulator" of β-oxidation (cells directly burning fatty acids for energy).
In the liver, it secretes a shit ton of secondary downstream factors that work through various pathways like PPAR, but overall just increasing β-oxidation.
Low protein causes FGF21 to increase. High protein causes it to decrease because FGF21 and mTORC are (roughly) mutually exclusive, the latter being an important pathway for muscle building.
Insulin also decreases FGF21.
In muscle cells, FGF21 causes muscle fibers to broadly turn into type-I fibers, which mostly use β-oxidation as a source of energy (these are also referred to as endurance fibers sometimes.)
In the heart, FGF21 is just overall cardioprotective because fats are the best energy source for the heart.

The other trick is using fruits for your carbs. If you try starches, the problem is that their high glucose content will cause a huge spike of insulin, blunting the FGF21 increase that a high carb diet brings naturally.
Fruits however have a (relatively) high amount of fructose, which is a double-edged sword. There's no rate-limiting step for fructose metabolism in the liver, so it'll try to store the fructose as fat immediately. This is great on this diet because we're increasing β-oxidation in cells, leading to an overall beneficial effect. This is even better if you do cardio right after eating fruits because it mobilizes the fructose-originating fats almost immediately into your muscle cells, which bypasses any intermediate fat storage steps.

tl;dr High carb/zero fat/low protein is the god tier diet for fat loss. Better if you can get most of your carbs through fruits since it really makes your body want to burn fat.
