What's your favourite row variation?

You dont need anything more than the first two and their variations

I am partial to gorilla rows because they are rather fun to do.
Anonymous No.76806497 [Report]
db row, both feet on the ground, one hand on the db rack, db foot forward so it's not a total clown show other than that cheating allowed

Been loving barbell row for a while but im having trouble getting the same old squeeze lately so im about to try chinups, pullups, then dumbell rows after.

How do you avoid lower back stress when bb rowing

Not being a glassback or a geriatric over 35
Alternatively a belt and proper form

Cable rows. specifically low to high wide grip and high to low narrow grip.
Anonymous No.76806604 [Report]
I started doing Yates rows recently and they've been feeling great. Other than that I like doing chest supported/seal rows. Pendlay rows are fun too for explosive power.

I never really had that problem with barbell row, and i grew up with childhood skuliosis and a bad back. Maybe you need to do some core work?

Manmaker rows look compelling. I'm going to try it on rings next time I do ring pushups.

It looks like a total meme to me, that you could never do with enough weight to challenge your lats.

True. But I'm a calisthenics fag and don't do heavy weights so it could work for my purposes.
Anonymous No.76806749 [Report]
>>76806709
More like a fancy chest-supported machine row. Because of the arc the bar makes the weight starts in front of you but finishes to your side, it's more natural and gives you a potentially longer ROM than t-bar/landmine rows. Also you can go pretty heavy so it's not gay. I still prefer good old db rows but they're neat.

80kg - pendlay row to avoid aforementioned lower back issue. Dunno about regular BB rows, probably much less, like 65-70kg
Anonymous No.76807787 [Report] >>76807815 >>76807825
band resisted inverted row. something I came up with. basically some band pegs and a power rack. place band across power rack and pull body through band. the thing I like about this one is it's so easy to setup and very effective.
Anonymous No.76807796 [Report]
>>76806569
Don't do bb rows (esp if you're tall), not everyone has good proportions for it and it's easy to hurt yourself in a dumb way. Switch to chest supported rows or db/kroc rows, it's absolutely not worth it to nuke your lower back by doing rows.

Two of the worst on the list
Anonymous No.76807896 [Report]
>>76807825
No. I can add 100+lbs resistance easily with a band. Weight vests become very painful to load very quickly not to mention the costs. Plus they feel weird in rows with the strap under the armpit it can impede ROM. I can scale the resistance much quicker and easier with bands

You don't. Lower back stress is a feature not a bug

essentials: single arm high row, heavy mid row, cable long pull with grip variants, heavy low row. also do linear row whenever i come across this machine. nothing feels like growing ur lats to the point it hangs or looks as if it's melting down per gf.

Pendlay rows for barbells, standing kroc rows off the back of an inclined bench for dumbbells. But rows are the one thing that cables and chest supported machines are just better.

My gym only has a t-bar row machine rather than the one screwed into the ground, the angles are all wrong and there's nothing gained from using it over a regular bent over row

I loved the Kroc Row, with proper form my whole back got destroyed by it. My new gym doesn't have DBs that heavy so I don't do it anymore.

i do the chest supported row with a barbell loaded with 55lbs, it's not alot but it makes sure i have perfect form
if i had dumbells in my hand like in that picture
i'd be doing reverse flyes

Seated cable
I can just load it easier and keep progressing in weight at a good rate still. Most other rows have much slower creep for me.

weighted vest and changing the level your feet are at might make it more challenging, i mostly used them to help me get back into shape after being bed ridden for 6 months or as the occasional finisher if i want to do something extra

Pendlay Rows

You do a full reset with every rep, so you don't get the 'bounce' and lower back strain that you get from regular BB rows. And it's harder to cheat.
