I'd ask a physical therapist. That being said: can you still hack squat/leg press?

basically anything with too much knee flexion is off the table, hip hinges are fine, RDL, stiff leg deadlfits, leg curls, but any knee hinge is a no

Even low weights and high reps? Unless your bones are literally falling apart, some muscle activity is almost always better for injured areas than zero stimulation.

i am 190cm and like 80kg and squat twice a week lol not even doing something like squat every day

i should just get knee replacement surgery, a life without squatting is not worth it

Is this actually a good option? Like switching out running and leg days for just a ton of biking, and then having like 3 upper body days a week? Might be possible if you have fucked knees/hips etc

Dunno how much stimulus your leg muscles get from it alone though

It works, but it's not time efficient at all. Years ago I did 6 months of only cycling and RDL for legs, but I was literally cycling 20h+ a week and increasing the resistance whenever possible to see any noticeable quad growth. It's very good for your health, as long as you don't injury yourself overdoing it. But you could also just squat for high reps and see the same progress while needing 1/10 of the time investment when compared to cycling. I would only recommend it for those with bad knees that don't have any other option.

Use stretchy fabrics to hold your knees together and ignore those witch doctors.

Doctors are retards. See a physical therapist or someone that deals with rehabilitation. They'll know more about the actual capabilities of your body vs some moron who just looked at an x ray and gave the easiest answer to your problem they had

"doctor, it hurts when I do this"
"then don't do it"
the doctor will be happy to refer OP to a specialist for very expensive surgery in ten years when never using his knees has caused them to degrade even more. In the meantime the doctor has dodged liability for giving his any suggestion that his should ever do the thing that he's overdone to injury.

you ignored a problem for years. Go ahead and lose a little quad muscle as a consequence and give your knees a rest with lighter activity. It's easier to regain muscle than to gain it. What do you need giant quads for, to look buff in a wheelchair?
