What's the best way to dress as a /fit/ guy? The trend seems to be big boxy oversized shit, but busting my ass just to hide it (unless you're a 1 in a billion 300lb roided freak who can look big in XXXL hoodies) seems stupid. But I don't want to be a complete show off either and walk around in tight underarmor stuff either.

are you asking what to wear in gym? oversized tees are pretty good for gym, and zoomers call it pump cover to hide until they get pumped. there are decent brands like gasp.

but if you are just a normie, simply go to nike, ralph lauren, adidas to buy whatever that you like.

if you don't mind spending some more, then there are semi lux brands like alexander mcqueen, golden goose, fear of god, comme des garcons, offwhite, acne, maison kitsune and so on. i used to spend a lot on clothes when i was young, but as i got older, clothes became less important while watches became more important. i just wear rl polo like the picrel and whatever shorts i find in the closet and combine with datejust, submariner, seamaster diver, and so on.

Polos look like shit on everyone but fit guys. So you should be wearing polos. Go for the performance polo golfer/athlete fit or the traditional polo golfer/yuppie fit or the knit polo golfer/old money LARPer fit. It doesn’t matter. Just wear the polo.

Just invest in some decent quality polos and oxford cloth button ups from a quasi-bespoke online retailer when they do one of their buy one get a dozen free. Then get one pair nice darker wash straight leg jeans and some Amazon Basics chinos in the athletic cut. Then get two cotton blazers, one blue and one medium gray. Buy for fit in the shoulders then have the midsection taken in (should cost $30/per at your dry clearer). These items never go out of style and are literally all you need unless you have to wear a suit for work. Don’t worry about what’s trendy. That is for females and fags.

The best thing about it is you can wear the cheapest shit and still look amazing, as long as you are comfortable in the body you have trained. No "old money" or whatever bullshit trends they are shilling. Just buy the softest, highest quality cotton tees you can afford.

Swap out your black tees for white, and your round necks for a conservative v-neck - you will be mired constantly. No need to size down for the fitted look, your upper will fill out the tshirt where it matters.

I don't know what the situation is for your legs though, back in the skinny jeans days it was hard to get good fits if you had developed legs. I guess the return of looser fits is a blessing. Try a lighter blue wash for the day, darker wash for the night. Shorts - go for 6 inch / definitely above the knee cut.

No need to spend stupid money or chase fads or fit in, your body is more than enough.

I don't know how old you are though or what the weather is like there. Grooming is a whole different issue altogether

For wardrobe basics it’s really hard to beat Amazon’s price/quality combo. That sly bastard is sourcing from large factories/fabric mills also serving major brands, using similarly spec’d materials.

1) fit, not baggy, not too tight, just right.
2) plain, avoid logos, prints, multiple colors per piece.
3) no flashy colors, stick to grayscale, blue, green.
4) no whacky designs, stick to the classics, nice and simple.
In a nutshell just keep it simple and make sure your shit fits you.

That doesn't have to be a bad thing. Think of a woman wearing a somewhat loose sweater. If it's a woman with no titties it'll look bad. However if it's a woman with big titties the sweater will be held up by her majestic mammaries. I couldn't find a good picture of this, but I'm sure you know the look.
The point being that loose is bad if there's no structure underneath. But if you have big shoulders and even better a big chest to go with them, I don't think it's a bad thing if the shirt isn't tight around the waist. Nothing wrong with leaving a bit to the imagination.

Certainly not trying to ad fag, but I have a similar build and my go to is Charles Tyrwhitt. You can customize on three size dimensions: neck, sleeve, and cut. I find the “slim” cut with a properly sized neck and an extra inch on the sleeves works best. They let you keep trying and returning (for free) until you find the combo that works at which point calling their shirts are basically the same size (no guessing whether to go up/down size based on model / fabric). If you’re in a major urban metro there is probably a showroom if you don’t want to order and return a bunch of different sizes. Once you have your size, just wait for one of their sales (4/$200, etc.) and stock up. Quality is slightly above other online quasi-bespoke (Indochino, etc.) but the fit is the selling point if you can find a combo that works for your body type.

For wardrobe staples that you intend to year for 5+ years (blazers, outerwear, jeans) I cannot recommend consignment shops more highly. Clothing depreciates worse than cars and the same buying logic applies. The Real Real is my go-to because of selection and price. Pro trip: they midsize their inventory all the time but the custom measurements they include in each listing are often correct. So I routinely get items at 80% off just because they fucked up and labeled a XXL item S and so it doesn’t appear in XXL searches and S fags don’t buy it because the measurements say 46” chest. Invest in actual high quality natural fiber items from heritage brands (Brioni, Zegna, Tom Ford, Loro Piana) not shit quality lifestyle brand garbage (Gucci, Prada, mainline Burberry, Versace, etc.). Basic rule of thumb is if a rapper has shouted out the brand, best stay away. A good quality blue cotton blazer will last until you outgrow it or die. And don’t worry if the item says “Final Sale.” If you get it and there is something off just make a stink with TRR’s Costa Rican customer service NPCs and use the phrase “material misstatement.” They will usually even refund return shipping, if you ask.

Fold in two blazers and a navy coat and this is literally all 90% of men need. The point is to invest in higher quality basics and, where necessary, get them tailored. And it isn’t boring, the number of permutations you can make with just this base wardrobe is extraordinary. As another anon said, looking out together is all about fit, especially for an athletic build. Proper fit requires tailoring. Tailoring requires money. Investing in high quality basics, tailoring them, and holding onto them for years is the most cost effective way to look out together.

Just wear high quality clothes that fit you right, that's all there is too it lol. Obviously if you weigh 190lbs you don't wanna be wearing XS t-shirts, that looks cringe and tryhard as fuck. But you don't wanna be wearing 2XL either. I shouldn't have to tell you how a t-shirt is supposed to fit, but if you're really that clueless go watch a few old Alpha M videos, his fashion advice is pretty solid if you have no idea how to dress
