How to get stronger hammer swings
I have a CPAT exam at the end of the week.
The test is 8 exercises that must be done in 10 minutes and 20 seconds while wearing a weighted vest.
I was off by ten seconds yesterday.
What ate my timer was the forcible entry. This involves a sledge hammer and a square block that verbs once receiving enough force.
My main problem was that I tried to go for bigger swings rather than hitting square in the middle. I was told afterwards that it only registers perfect contact. So I was wasting time and didn’t know why.
To pass this week, I need to be able to apply a lot of controlled force on a hammer.
The obvious exercise is just using a hammer on some wood.
But I’d like to practice technique with as much weight as I can. For this, I don’t have anything I can safely destroy for seven days.
What are some good gym exercises to simulate a sideways swing like this?
