Being enlightened about how tech works is painful because most people who believe they are "intelligent" and "get it" are in most cases merely overspecialized, and don't actually understand how things like hardware and software function together, or things like memory allocation (because now there's so generally so much memory most people simply never bother to learn)
This leads to weird things like users who run linux for userland, or insist that spending 10,000 hours learning neovim or emacs is an improvement... because you don't have to move the mouse around.
The type of person who spends 10,000 hours in order to simply avoid moving a mouse is a specialized idiot. They will be able to give lots of opinions about the topic, most of them "on-topic" or even "correct" while lacking any core understanding whatsoever.
This is the type of person who uses "logical fallacies" in response to arguments, but they themselves do not understand logic.
Because they are unable to understand logic, they also fail in their ability to comprehend the logical arguments of others, and overall, rely upon their specialization as their "expertise", when they are not experts but simply overspecialized. This leads to the profligation of meaningless opinions, as the opinion is had to protect the "specialized midwit"'s ego, as opposed to make a logical point.
