Got some more stories.
After the incident, they didn’t appreciate him anywhere on the network, but got back in by hitching a ride with ‘environmental design’ that didn’t have stringent standards I guess.
You could see him messing around on unprotected eng networks at night.
We knew immediately though. Long before that, we symlinked our .plan files and fingered our way through fsa and rat filesystems.
Is it any wonder he got into security? LOL.
I wish i could remember who got into the fistfight over what directory to put some stuff in. Pretty sure ken was one of them. Those were the best times, for sure. It was like having our own Robert Morris Jr.
All this talk about linux being bloatware, we said the same shit about “Solaris” (vs. SunOS) when it came out. I think dwh said “it’s like there’s a bunch of for (;;); loop processes running on it at all times” and posted that “downgrade to Solaris” poster in the hallway.
He’s a good guy. Way better looking in his younger days, which probably explains why he’s so arrogant today, but you need that kind of personality to run that kind of show. I think some of his responses about GPL and stuff were being very kind. You tend to mellow out over the decades.
