I think the "write tests first" part of TDD is stupid. It sounds good on paper, but there's no way you're going to think of every edge case from a problem description, especially if you need to make an engineering decision on how data should be represented halfway in.
On the other hand, writing tests is invaluable in a group setting with an incrementally-built codebase to prove your stuff works in isolation
