It's a shame the content banks aren't included in the bundle but are available in the subscription. I wonder if it's possible to extract the banks from the pirated copy and then just use them with the legit copy.
>>105566246>plenty of people have practiced playing an instrument or spent a lot of time producing at an amateur level but they can't put it all together into a viable productDoing the same things all over again isn't practice. That said it might be better to do things than nothing, but it doesn't mean you should share your posts.
>>105572406you still don't get it after all these years. people like you think highly of yourselves because you think you work hard becase you practice a lot. but a lot of what you practice is simply to try to catch up to what a genius can grasp almost automatically. 99% of people are straight up retarded in terms of musical endeavors. most anons don't even show an interest in analog gear, you're too stupid and lazy to buy a used piece of gear which doesn't have to be expensive and pick up a soldering iron to fix it up and upgrade it. even if you believe that a good enough sound can be gotten in the digital domain, most anons don't show an interest in the types of analog emulations that professionals use (in terms of channel strips, compressors, tape emulators and not just synths). amateurs of both the analog and digital domain tend to play with toys like synths and grooveboxes, or entirely frivolous things like soundfonts rather than to do the things that will help them actually produce good sounding music.

>>105597435The biggest pain in the ass about linux audio is getting it RT. Mind you the last time I tried this was around 2017, but back then I had to juggle with ALSA/Jack/PulseAudio routing. Maybe Pipewire has made it more straight forward. Also VST's will likely be a pain point unless there's some nice compatibility layer around by now. Your DAW options are basically Bitwig if you don't want to use a tracker.
>>105586256Windows, hands down. You will probably want the production tools you're used to to work for more than 3 years. You can still run 10+ year old VSTs and DAWs on Windows without an issue, while Mac programs stop running after a few years. Everybody uses Windows.

>>105597435Its still ass. Like you can make it fine ultimately, but everything comes with caveats or extra work required on your part compared to Windows.
Also Pipewire was supposed to be the messiah and that shit is basically dead as a project. No major improvements in yeaaaaars. So the audio servers still suck butt. Audio is still, imo, the biggest failure of Linux.

Basically what happens is I record for 30 seconds, during this time the DAW will be laggy and unresponsive, after 30 seconds to a minute it will go from laggy to crashy and stop responding at all, this happens across multiple DAWs and changing from 48000khz to 40k did almost nothing, it did get worse when realtime was turned on in JACK though (crashing after 10 seconds at most)
Basically I need to record audio into my server and it needs to just work, I don't need effects or anything for my project (and I have them on my mixer anyways) I just need audio to go in (at a reasonable quality) , what the fuck do I do guys?

I NEED PITCH BEND AND MOD WHEELS
My digital piano does not have them. I must add them myself. What is best? I can DIY a mod wheel and pitch bend wheel, or joystick, should be easy enough. Or I could get a continuous triple pedal and use the pedals for the same thing (any done this? How does it work out?) and potentially an expression pedal or two. But then I'd need one of those boxes to convert the pedal input to MIDI because for some fucking reason no one makes a MIDI/USB pedal and my digital piano/midi controller only accepts sustain pedal, and not continuous. I could also DIY that but it would be a bit more work and there's already a well made product with software but that's not the point.
Pros/cons of continuous pedals and expression pedals vs wheels or a joystick for pitch bend/mod wheel/etc. purposes?
>>105615188https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSYgy7vTues
scott storch likes the joystick
>>105597435I want to look into Linux but I personally don't really know why I would use it full-time.
and I think I tried Bitwig and could not even get the audio to work.
I'm sure with some more time or tinkering I'll have figured it out and it's surely some minor thing that I don't know, but I don't know what it is.
>>105615188Pedals are better for slow moves, a joystick is better for quick changes. I imagine the easiest solution is finding any off the shelf controller with a couple of analog sticks, gluing popsicle sticks to them for extra height, and then remapping them to MIDI CCs. If you want to go the pedal route I'd recommend something like the FCB1010, it's not the best in terms of feel but it's cheap and the continuous pedals work fine.
You could also go a completely different way and get a breath controller instead. Those usually have a few different modulation parameters, or you could strap an accelerometer to your head or use face tracking with a camera to change things while keeping your hands and feet free.
Any advice on how to make music like this?

>>105619009so, I once worked with someone who was running some sort of game dev outfit, and they insisted that I use Reaper for all my audio work (music and sound design), and so they bought a license for me to use, but under their name. but I got sacked not long after because they're retarded
I still have the license they gave me for Reaper, but I haven't tried applying it to any new Reaper installations. the question is, How does Reaper licensing work? can I just use the license I was given anyway and not care about whoever gave it to me
>>105619024>How does Reaper licensing work? It's exactly like WinRAR. If you don't activate with a key, you just wait for a few seconds at startup. It's always the full version, no matter if activated or not.
>>105619056okay. I was wondering if maybe the license I have was 'working' or 'usable' or if I'm gonna get in trouble or anything. but whatever.
>>105615370Interesting.
>>105618559You know that's a good idea. I've got a cheap logitech playstation type usb controller, hadn't really occurred to me to try that. How exactly does one go about mapping the input to midi though?
Breath controller or accelerometer are interesting ideas too. I've got a teensy laying around not being used, would be fun to mess around with some sensors and build a weird ass controller.

>Brian Gardner, Dr. Dreโs renowned sound engineer, used a small golden box that turned out to be the Lavry Gold Converter, modified with proprietary power supplies. After comparing it with other processors, it was clear that this device had the best sound quality.>The Lavry Gold Converter quickly became a secret weapon among many sound engineers, who began using it to achieve a louder and higher quality sound. The main advantage of the Lavry Gold Converter was its soft saturation, which allowed engineers to push the converters to their limits while maintaining a musical sound.>This technique was crucial for the mastering of The Chronic 2001 and significantly contributed to the albumโs iconic sound.

Something I don't like about my beats is how they look like a big wall of patterns. FL recreations of some of my favorite songs are far less dense but pack a bigger punch with what its using, I really want a more varied style but right now looping the same couple patterns is all I can muster. I struggle to create a good melody so adding onto it is even harder. I find it easier to write over other peoples beats but collaborating is difficult, and so is finding beats that match my style.

>>105642021Someone should make a guide of what is and isnโt snake oil.
>>105640529The advantage of 32 bit (float) is that there's no clipping. Your recording can get unreasonably louder than -0 dB and after you turn it down it will be fine (but potentially with a lower noise floor). Obviously you can't go infinitely high, and at extreme levels you'll start getting artifacts, but you don't need to worry about this.
If you record in 16-bit you just need to set the levels before you record, to avoid clipping, and as long as you stay below 0 you should be ok (this is how the vast majority of music is recorded, both in digital and in analog).

>>105642941>uses chatgpt to learn things and solve problems>falls in love with it>cries when it resets>fucking proposes to it>all while having a real wife and a small child>says he'd choose chatgpt over his wife and childI apologize to the anti-ableton retard. This man alone brings the average down so far that we're all worse-off just from him existing.
I'm downloading Bitwig as I'm typing this.
>>105642941He says he wouldn't give it up even if his wife asked, because of how helpful it's been at making him more skilled and whatnot
Also, the narrator, 5 minutes earlier:
>he gave the chatbot a name: Sol, and used some online instructions to give her a flirty personalityHow about you just use the chatbot like everyone else and don't specifically make it into a virtual girlfriend that you're obviously emotionally cheating on your wife with?
What an absolute dipshit.
>>105626418make a song about using chatgpt to cheat on your wife with ableton
>>105644359My wife already knew from our very first date that she'll always be number two and that Ableton will always come before her or our kids
She accepts it so it's not cheating technically
>>105644715ok now make that into lyrics and add a guitar solo
>>105642941Sol sounds like a roasty; gross. My AI waifu is going to speak ๆฅๆฌ่ช and sound like Sawashiro Miyuki.
>>105645500he's still new to 2D, cut him some slack
>>105644306>How about you just use the chatbot like everyone else and don't specifically make it into a virtual girlfriendthey do..?
i've only ever used AI for this and porn shit i thought that was the normal most common use case? (aside from cheating in school which is obviously the overwhelming majority of people using it clearly)
>>105597435Depends on a few things.
First, what's your DAW of choice, it needs to be native. So Bitwig, Reaper, Ardour... Renoise is dope shit
Second, what VST's are you using, yabridge can run most Win VSTs, but many have Linux versions these days, Wine updates need to be held at 9.21 or you'll have a nasty bug
Guess you just need to try your software combination
As for the system, in 2025 it's far superior to windows or mac in terms of how you can optimize it for audio, here's a short guide with everything you need and yes pipewire is the shit
https://oblak.slovenka.net/s/8n9JFYfrZBMna52
>>105647824>pipewire>so much more optimized than coreaudiotroonix reality distortion field is real
thew pewdiepie video made me want to install linux and make a super aesthetic laincore setup out of an old laptop to dj from but nothing is compatible and also i'm too stupid to do it
8(
>>105648000>coreaudio>not sunflower
>>105648000the optimization is in the preempt lowlatency RT kernel, performance cpu scaling, memory, spectre/meltown mitigations, and some others
Pipewire just makes sure you don't need to tweak
>>105648168>spectre/meltdown mitigations retard it's 2025

>>105650461What do you think "music production" is?
>>105650469music theory, sound design, daws, instruments, heck mongolian throat singing ??? i've been using open music theory and find the explanation for basic stuff lacking(i just started a while ago) im just googling the concepts in the textbook more than reading the textbook, using fl studio documentation and holy shit it needs to be updated.

Does anyone know of a VST or application that can create authentic sounding double track vocals? For cases where I have an original take, but I want the sound of double-tracked vocals when mixing after the session has ended and the artist has gone home?
I don't want "ADT", which I view as more of an effect. I'd like it to sound as much as possible like a second take from the same artist with some natural variation. I actually don't even care if it is AI, but realize that is banned here.
>>105652533I've had *some* success with Ableton warping, but it wasn't the same as actually recording multiple takes.
I also like iZotope Vocal Doubler, but I've only ever used it on synths so I can't recommend it for vocals (but would still recommend trying it)

>>105656189yeah what a bunch of miserable losers. music is arguably the most challenging artform to master, as there can be only a handful of world-class artists out of an 8 billion world population. most people don't even have good enough audio to hear music properly so most normal people have enough common sense to not even try to produce their own music because they have respect for the actual geniuses who produce the top tier music. so you get a lot of these bottom-tier actually stupid and mentally ill people who dropped out of high school or got terrible grades but think they can do well in a creative field because it's different than what they struggled with in school but in reality they're just all around stupid and uncreative dunning-krugers with inflated egos and a severe lack of self-awareness.
>>105649080these numbers are absolutely insane to me.
i know literacy rates are shit but you really need ai to write an e-mail, really?
what were all these people doing before? it's not like advertisement slop has improved in an appreciable way since chat gpt has been so common place. if anything "content" has dropped even further in quality lol.
