what do you guys think about this.
this faggot made a desk and that sends out a energy field and a receiver for the devices.
you think this will not actually every be used or what.

Just watch this, it's nothing new: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzSoabcQYMg

And he just presented a product from this company: https://www.etherdyne.net/evalkit
Notice also how he doesn't mention how inefficient it is

thank you this is the kind of stuff i was looking for.
like its not used cause it really isn't efficient yet.

fun concept for a video
energy efficiency isn't even that bad, especially when you're just using low power parts
realistically pointless, why not just use a laptop

I think it's cool but there's little practical use for it. The cables going to my stationary monitor are not really a problem. The monitor sits on my desk, doesn't get moved for years at a time. The limited power (and bad efficiency, I'm sure) those things can transfer is also an issue. I can see some practical use for the peripherals, you can have wireless peripherals and never worry about recharging or replacing batteries which is certainly a boon since that's annoying, but then again for this use case having cables isn't really a problem either.

I don't really see much practical applicability for this sort of thing at home. Maybe if you go out somewhere they can have this shit on their tables and your phone / laptop charge automatically. That could be somewhat neat.

he mentions at the end it's a constant 10w of power regardless of what's receiving the power.
10w for a keyboard and mouse is pretty shit. There's also no built in way to detect a load in the circuit so it's just 10w 24/7 unless you switch it off.

Inefficient compared to just using a wire and plugging it in. Plus you now have a fire hazard especially when you consider how hot computers can get.

They literally do.

NTA. Depends. Li-ion? Same as any voltage, it can burst or turn into a spicy pillow and explode.

Also, replaceable batteries should still be the norm. Fuck rechargeables if you can't change them. The battery dies, the size isn't to spec to fuck all and now you have a brick that might not even work.
AA/AAA rechargeables that can be replaced are the best combo. Keep double the batteries that you need swap between them. Only problem with them is that they don't hold charge when not in use like alkalines.

All this does is utilise a large loop antenna and massive linear amplifier to absolutely SHIT out power on 6.78MHZ ISM band through a magnetic loop antenna
6.78 is a less common frequency used in rfids and is a harmonic of 13.56mhz which is the widely used rfid frequency, also ism.
Since it's not really used and is suitable and efficient for resonance based power transfer, it's now being used as such.
It's range is fucking shit as an actual antenna goes, you would barely hear it outside your house, but anything directly within the loop gets such a strong signal that it can generate power.
That's where we are rn.

You will very soon see this shit everywhere with the rise of lightweight battery-less wireless gaming mice where the loop antenna is built into the pad. Since it's not fucking qi, it has no issues being used anywhere on the pad and even being lifted off the pad for extended movements.

And no, 6.78mhz won't hurt you. It's about the same as standing next to a cb radio antenna, aka no issue.

Connect both ends directly with a thin wire and see how hot it gets
With Li-ion you have the extra issue that if the cell gets too hot it basically explodes

They hold well enough, like you can leave them months even and they'll still have a usable charge. I guess it might not be that way if you're using them in some super high current device, but for shit like peripherals it's fine. I replace the batteries in my controllers once every few months (I don't use them that much) and when the batteries in the thing die I just grab the spare pair from the drawer and recharge the dead ones. They're probably not fully charged anymore at that point but the controller still works for tens of hours so it's perfectly fine.

So instead of having the cable go all the way to the mouse, you have a slightly shorter cable that goes to the pad instead. Brilliant!
