Do they need to? Most of what they do is done in apps. We don't make most students lean how to calculate logarithms anymore but once it was standard for maths.
For those students who want to go into a career where directories/folders are an important concept to learn, make it part of the introduction curriculum just as learning how to calculate logs is still part of advanced maths. For everyone else, it's not relevant knowledge for their lives.

I learned how to type and to use some drawing programs in kindergarten, but I was the exception rather than the rule. I didn't start properly learning how computers worked until I got my own in middle school, which was also remarkable. Even then I didn't start to develop a proper understanding of how computers worked until I started taking programming classes.

I'm not sure what you are referring to but in my schooling we just used the normal identities like addition / subtraction of logs and change of bases to do this
I can't remember ever doing the arithmetic of the power series expansions / taylor series to get an estimate.
