There's "giant," "gigantic," "giraffe," "ginormous," "gibberish," and maybe others. I do think you're right that most "gi" words have a hard g sound, but there are a bunch of exceptions.

I've always pronounced it with a hard 'g', maybe due to association for the word 'graphics'. I don't know if that's correct or not and I don't care. Hearing people pronounced it 'jif' like the peanut butter brand sounds dumb to me, though.

I've never once heard someone pronounce "graphics" like "jraphics". Jiff seems the most sane for the acronym.
