Actual usability. With rclone, you can mount the drive and with with it. Rars are cumbersome for anything other than "I want to get this file from here to there".
Compare a garage connected to your house to a car park a few blocks over. Yes, you can park your car in either thing and with only about little bit more effort you can commute to work, but as soon as you want to do something else (bringing groceries), it's a huge pain in the ass and virtually unusable.
