alias 'ls'='for i in *; do echo $i; done'
I wonder how much one could theoretically cut from the coreutils in this sort of way
Obviously impractical, interesting to think about
>>105586335 (OP)Hehe, I had to write that once. We were having a competition on who could have the smallest docker image. Had the original bsd bourne shell. Thatโs it.
Really all you need.
>>105586335 (OP)That doesn't even work, let alone offer all that ls would. If you are worried about kilobytes of space in 2025, you have missed the boat.
>>105586882because having one per line is nice
>>105586578its not about the space, its just a thought experiment

๐
1. replace GNU coreutils with BSD utils
2. Wait until Ubuntu rewrote the coreutils with their rust trash
3. Write your own ls which is like 10 lines and replace your current ls
Did a thread really die because of your stupidity, OP?

Luckily, the animals eat each other so they are safe from Peta people.
