My xbox died, and my new laptop's speakers i'd use for games suck. I've tried a variety of external speakers, headphones, even other laptops but all of them, even if they sound clearer then the new laptop's shit speakers, have a "audio profile"/frequency response etc I dislike

Namely, using Halo Infinite as an example, a lot of the gunfire sounds get drowned out by lower tones/noises I couldn't hear before: The assault rifle now has a "thump" sound that's not there without headphones or speakers and that drowns out the initial firing, metallic sounds, the ravager gains a warbling liquidy noise that drowns out the normal pulsating and whining it has without headphones, etc

I've typed up an autistic in depth explanation of how all the stuff I've tested sounds, in case anybody happens to have used the same speakers, headsets, laptops, portable handheld PC's, etc, that list is here: pastebin.com/iFx7rvtQ , but the bottom line is that the best things I've tried have been the Asus Ally X with it's default out of the box audio settings (see link below), followed by a Lenovo Legion 5 16IRX9 / 83DG00EEUS laptop, followed by the 10+ year old T22B350ND monitor and it's built in speakers I used with my Xbox, followed the generic, shitty 2$ gas station earbuds i've all tried

The T22B350ND is obviously my default frame of reference. The 2$ earbuds have more low, echo-y sounds that are a bit too strong, wheras the Lenovo and Asus Ally X (which based on my research DOES sound different then the non-X, forgive the plebbit link: reddit.com/r/ROGAlly/comments/1eeflmo/) both sound better then the monitor in that they make the lower noises more audible, without it drowning out the other sounds, especially for the Ally X

Can anybody give me suggestions on what I should be looking for in speakers (or even laptops) that sound how I want?
I'm open to headsets & In Ear Monitors too, but i'd rather something I don't have to wear.

Pic related is literally headache inducing, and manages to strip the the mids and low-highs of all vibrance and detail. It muddies the bass and then blasts it disproportionately so it's just the same painful thump over and over. The actual music, be it female vocals, extreme metal, instrumental, the Cave Story OST, rumble jungle reggae remixes, or weird synth zoomer shit, sits at a significant distance, while the bass has all the presence despite also losing all complexity is ever had.

Also the build quality of these is beyond cheap and I won't ever forgive myself for spending money on these after falling for the pretty blatant chink shill marketing behind almost every positive review and post about these.

I'm going to assume that these sound shit because they ARE shit, but can anyone clarify if the above might also just be how planars naturally sound, and if they're just not for me?

a) source. is it your pc mobo? likely affecting the FR.
b) context. do you use other iems? iems can have some decent low-end especially if you come from lower quality 2.0 pc speakers or open-back headphones.
c) in general. they're a decent pair of planar iems. many people like these drivers over time (the same chinese OEM driver is used in nearly every single 14.xxmm planar IEM), though they're not for everyone.

Main source is my phone (Sony with Qualcom tier 3.5mm), but also my FiiO Q3 DAC. I don't notice a difference between the two. My daily IEMs are the KZ ZS10 Pro which still blow me away with how good the sound profile is. Daily headphones are HD600s which I rate slightly worse than my ATH-R70Xs, and sometimes also use my MDR-V6s.

I am considering giving the KZ PRXs a go, since I know at least the build quality will be good, and that they're not going to be a total SCAM. At worst they'll be a sound I don't personally like, and I won't have given my money to chinkslop purveyors with fabricated specs and mass shill marketing and paying off every redditor they could find to give a good review. unlike pic related.

ZS10 Pro are highly colored, with a lot of midbass emphasis and treble peaks. This was the "thumpy bass," and upper-end "clarity," you became accustomed to. It is not a reference sound whatsoever, but you may enjoy it. You should not be looking then for anything close to "neutral," then, as you clearly do not like a neutral sound.

It is "sub-bass over mid-bass," or in other words, a perceived relative boosting of deep sub-bass with subdued mid-bass, which is not a trait you seem to jive with.
As I had assumed, you come from several pairs of open-back headphones. They have a distinct roll-off of sub-bass, and only deliver mid-bass. That is the reverse of how the T10 bass comes across.

I am admittedly not thrilled with my HD600s after doing moderate research, but they're doing the job at the money. Was torn between the ATH-R70Xs (which I liked more but the entire L side died within two months due the flimsy as fuck internals, couldn't even solder back to life), and decided against the MDR-MV1s because the treble seems excessive and fatiguing.

The noise floor of my DAC is apparently pretty low? I figure most IEMs legitimately never need more power than whatever my phone has, but my PC's shitty onboard 3.5mm is more awful than just having them hiss desu.

As you can hear, it's not. IEMs are generally very efficient, meaning they only need very little power to get loud, meaning they also play back source noise much louder than less efficient over-ear headphones. KZ ZS10 Pro spec is equivalent to 126 dB @ 1 Vrms, while HD 600 spec is 97 dB @ 1 Vrms, that's a huge difference of 29 dB.
