So how long until people finally decide to leave youtube for other alternatives?

2025 has been full of communities jumping from one platform to another:
commies and libtards are moving to BS
streamers are moving/multistreaming to kick, my thanks to the roach king
youtube keeps pushing their new monetization and more BS guidelines

Simple, ads help me consume less bullshit and to more and more stop using the internet and phone outside of some necessary communication. It is breaking habits. Instead of blocking ads whenever I get a unskipable one I go "oh fuck this shit" and switch the thing off.
It's all coming full circle. Almost back to early 2000s internet usage / outdoors activity ratio. I'm simply not engaging in this cat and mouse faggotry anymore.

For me it's not the ads that have cut my viewing time but the lack of new interesting content. It seems like there's nothing new to watch on YouTube. I started using the YouTube app on my phone about a year ago and it still hasn't ever recommend to me a new channel that I would find interesting. It's always slop or something that I've already seen. The ads started off annoying but after a while of blocking the ones I didn't like the ads they started showing improved big time. Choosing not interested on a video doesn't seem to do anything for recommendations though. And pressing the new to me button does shit fuck all too. Clearing my history does nothing. It's all slop that I don't want to see in the recommendations no matter what I try. Is this an algorithm problem or is no one new making interesting videos anymore? The only reason I started using the app is because I wanted to see new channels but I'm going to stick with pipepipe now and just watch all of my old subscriptions on there instead.

Correct answer: it costs millions to host all the bandwidth and storage for the largest video repository in the history of the planet, and it's almost impossible to make any kind of profit, so they need to cuck their users just to break even or there won't even be a YouTube any more.

The answer they probably give: hurr muh shareholders hurr we want to improve the service hurr durrrrrr you won't mind if we're selling you things you want durrrrr

I bet most (> 99%) users don't even know what an ad blocker is, so any justification would be fake. they just want to push more ads on users and stop tech literate users from spreading adblockers.
also, they made it clear now that this was the justification for killing manifest V2, as people said.

Youshit should not be profitable. It's a cultural hegemon to influence the narrative. You wanna call the shoots you gotta pay the pipepipe.

While we're on this topic, does anyone else here not even sit through YouTube videos anymore? I used to be able to watch 3-hour ones as a teenager, now even with NewPipe they're just boring to me. I mostly get info by reading through articles or information databases now.

I haven't seen a YouTube ad in years thanks to multiple layers of adblockers. I made the mistake of trying to pull up a car repair tutorial on a built in YouTube app on a relative's TV and it was fucking unwatchable. Multiple minute lot ad breaks in a 5 minute video, of which half the time the app itself couldn't handle jumping video streams and would crash. Meanwhile I'm trying to replace the voltage regulator on a '91 pickup truck I don't know anything about in pouring rain and can't get the tutorial to play.

I want Google to burn.

I think the unskippable ads revenue are not shared with content creators only for those that appear in between, maybe the end ones too i those appear

If piracy is stealing then subscription model and not owning media you bought is scamming. The only fair model for both sides is perpetual licensing for particular (major) version without DRM. I don't mind paying for something I will own, but I will simply not cuck myself into renting an access to something. As for ads the browser is an User Agent and how name suggests it serves the user. The user has right to choose what runs on his browser and what is blocked. The internet was meant to share stuff with others freely out of good will for free without any strings attached. The problem is advertisers and businesses switched from TV and newspapers to it. It's nobody fault they are trying to use internet for what it's not made for. They shouldn't bitch about people using internet as it's supposed to be used. They can fool illiterate retards, but not everyone. If something is posted on internet it's free. Also TOS is bullshit. Clicking a button is not a valid contract and user is not obliged to follow whatever bullshit they've written there.

A lot of YouTube is now designed with the assumption that you are scrolling on your phone and you are not paying attention.

I'm still ad-free over here. The moment that ends I'll finally be free I guess.
I'm sure that even if they somehow make ads unskippable, there will at least be software to dl the video and do a quick ad-removing trim without re-rendering
