For me it's not the ads that have cut my viewing time but the lack of new interesting content. It seems like there's nothing new to watch on YouTube. I started using the YouTube app on my phone about a year ago and it still hasn't ever recommend to me a new channel that I would find interesting. It's always slop or something that I've already seen. The ads started off annoying but after a while of blocking the ones I didn't like the ads they started showing improved big time. Choosing not interested on a video doesn't seem to do anything for recommendations though. And pressing the new to me button does shit fuck all too. Clearing my history does nothing.
