You think Linux will save you from updates breaking your GPU driver? You live in a fantasy world. The best it will do is let you choose when to update. AMD and Nvidia already hate you and they hate Linux users even more.

Because those Linux machines are managed by employees and do professional workloads, not gaming. Gaming is getting worse and worse, even for Windows users, because gamers are not the primary market of GPUs anymore.

I'm pretty sure no Linux distribution will update your GPU drivers while you gaming. And if there is some hypothetical distribution that will do such crap no harm will come from it since user-space drivers would still be in memory and new kernel drivers will load only after reboot to a new kernel.

Linux mint, It is the most popular linux OS on steam. Arch numbers are inflated due to the steamdeck. For the one that is most compatible with games just go with mint

OP's issue was that Windows tried to update drivers during gaming. He didn't mention if drivers he was getting were broken (they probably weren't). In this case Linux would definitely save him since it won't update drivers automatically and even if he would update drivers during gaming it won't brake anything. What's your fucking point?

Yeah and I said that Linux lets you choose when to update. I said this and you ignored it, deciding to correct me by restating info I have already acknowledged. Based on historical precedent, I can only assume you won't read this either, and will respond by saying the same thing again. Just in case though: Linux driver updates can definitely still break GPUs, even if it won't force you to do shit while a game is running like in the very specific circumstance OP is mentioning. While you're right that the cause wouldn't be the same, I don't think OP would feel very saved if they still had a melted GPU.

the old customers usually have no alternatives anyways, the customers they are chasing can just choose not to buy shit/invest elsewhere if they don't appeal to them
