Is your computer faster and more power efficient than cheapest $500 m4 mac mini?

Call me when you have a translation layer that lets me play ALL and I do mean ALL my vidya slop for the same price.

Oh wait! Yeah my 450 usd Z1e legion actually peaked there in terms of value, LMAO.

apple arm is good, but it needs more vydia
so far blizzard is the only company that did a proper native port and it works just fine even on base m1

no, but I have one 2tb ssd and 1tb ssd and 1 10tb hhd. how does that compare to a 256Gb mac mini?

also, the performance is not that important for my usecase. I am a programmer and 10 core cpu is enough for whatever I want.

I recently switched to Linux and audio sounds better on linux. How is apple audio output compared to Linux

The problem is current Qualcomm windows/linux arm CPU is pretty ass, in terms of performance on pair with m1. So ARM won't chip from the x86 dominance and devs won't bother to support more games on ARM. Consider basic m4 mini has only like 10 graphic cores, it's pretty good performance.

Meh, disk troons are over-reacting, just get NAS, or cheap external thunderbolt 5 disk. You don't need to pay extra at all.

Every serious music producer uses a mac, it was the case even before they switched to native arm CPUs.

Yes, because I have a Mac Studio that's 4x faster and just as quiet and power efficient. It even plays all worthwhile pc games at 4K >60fps and it cost me less than what I would have to pay to build an equivalent pc with an nJudea gpu.
Anonymous No.105600411 [Report] >>105600457
>>105600395
Based, I think your studio has like extra 6 CPU cores, so makes sense it's faster. nJudea can dilate with their 600 TDP cards, agreed.

are you retarded? USB can never get SSD speeds over NVMe or PCIe. Might as well just buy HDD's at this point.

apple storage and ram is trash - true. upgrades are crazy overpriced. this is bare minimum i would ever consider - and this 599-box easily turns into 1.5k with base m4. at this point it already makes sense to just go for m4 pro mac mini with 512 ssd and 24 ram - that is also 1.5k.
and then on top of it a thunderbolt dock which costs additional 100.
if they ever stop cucking everyone around with ram/ssd prices - these will be the best computers ever created.

16 cpu cores and 40 gpu cores. The base model Mac Studio is a scam since it uses binned chips with disabled cores so you might as well spend the extra 15% to get the real thing. And when you use the "student" discount that anyone can get without any kind of verification, it only ends up being $2600 total with the cpu, ram, and ssd upgrades. I plan to use this as my main computer for the next 10 years. You can't get any better value than that.

I think the cheapest mac studio is also good, you can flip it when 2nm m6/m7 comes out, and you still get plenty of your money back. Also, people who are serious about storage use NAS.

Stop playing slop. Every game that's actually good runs flawlessly on Mac OS. Paradox strategy games, Civ, Factorio, AoE 2, literally any indie game, Souls games (even ps4 Bloodborne emulation works well through the x86 to arm translation layer).

If you care about thunderbolt 5 speed, like 8k video edits, it's pretty cheap. Also, I agree most people don't really need it, all you need is NAS.

Hardware is improving at a glacial pace now so I'm confident this computer is going to be just as fast 10 years from now. I don't see anything needing more than 64gb of ram in the next decade. The ssd can be replaced btw. People even figured out how to make 3rd party ssd's so I can upgrade it in a few years when I feel like I need more than 1tb of drive space.

No, but I payed less than US$99 for it and it takes care of my usecase well, so anything more would be a waste of money now.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA Faggot. Their storage prices ruin it.
My 9800X3D/4090/64GB build with 16TB of NVME is half the fucking price of the Mac Studio with 4TB. Insanity.

Wrong the cheapest 16 core cpu, is 2,5 (2.4 with a discount). The only ripoff is storage and it's completely made up issue by G troons.

>>105601868

It's irrelevant to normal people, if you really need that much space you buy NAS for actual storage, or if you need extreme speed you get thunderbolt 5 enclosure external and put whatever SSD in it. But home server fixes your problem, plus you can use it with your tv, phone etc.

Assuming you're okay with getting buttfucked by a soldered SSD, soldered RAM, soldered CPU, Soldered GPU, Soldered PSU, Soldered everything else...

Then at $500 this isn't too bad especially considering tim apple upped the RAM to 16GB.
Anonymous No.105603093 [Report]
For anyone wondering back in 2021 Apple started this meme where they claimed 8GB of RAM on a MAC was the same as 16GB of RAM on a Windows computer. They kinda left out the part where this involved the SSD getting raped by write operations and nowhere near the same level of performance.

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on the soldered SSD to save $0.05
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>components serial numbered and tied to the motherboard to prevent repair and replacement (including battery)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>flexgate cables that are so brittle they crack from opening your screen past 90 degrees more than 2 dozen times
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screens so fucking shit they have over 90ms response times (essentially 10Hz)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screen made from pajeet trash glass that cracks from temperature change in seasons or tape over the iBotnet webcam
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>so fire and explosion prone the FAA have banned them from all flights
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>uses phone CPU that's so shit it gets destroyed by decade old i3s from 2017 and can only "compete" by cheating at benchmarks in extreme edge cases with hardware accelerators
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>curryniggers at apploo get so full of sniffing their own currynigger silicon shit they ship currybooks with no fans and they run so hot they melt the keyboard keys
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

>keyboards with 63.5% failure rate
unheard of on PCs, and yet you curryniggers defend it with "jus werx fer me!"
just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good
this list goes on forever
there's no PC laptop as total fucking currynigger shit as crapple's streetshitter books
they are one of the biggest heaps of steaming currynigger shit in the history of computing second only to curryPhones
