That's not entirely true, we're probably not too far off from AGI on a relative timeframe assuming 1) it's even possible and 2) AI research doesn't hit a plateau.
Each new generation of LLMs are progressively knocking out more and more benchmarks, if the trend continues we'll reach AGI eventually. I think a lot of people just misunderstand what AGI really means, which is just something that can perform all intellectual tasks at or above average human intelligence. So theoretically current AI tech could reach it given enough compute power and training data (which is why AI companies keep begging investors for more gibs).
AGI waifus though, that's a whole nother story. I don't think intelligence is the defining factor in making convincing or happy romantic/sexual relationships, and might even be a detriment (see pic rel). As another anon posted earlier in this thread, LLMs needs better "memory" (token/context) so they don't forget basic details after a bit of conversation, but there are already lots of LLMs out there for companionship if that is what OP wants. You don't need a lot of smarts to make someone happy.
As for sexbots... I don't know enough about mechanical engineering, robotics, power electronics, synthetic materials, etc. to give any estimate on that. I'll leave it to our resident schizo and his nightmare miku robot.
