Remember when you could just pop off any phone's back cover and replace the battery? I think tech companies should bring this feature back since they care about the environment so much :-)

how often do you really need to replace a phone's battery? my last iphone i used for 5 years every day and it was still 80% capacity after that
if i wanted i could've paid like 50 dollars to get it replaced but instead i just got a new iphone

It's not about that, when I get form home to uni playing some vidya already has my phone at 75% through my classes dicking around on the internet, listening to music/yt/twitch it would be at ~50% by lunch. Not going to make it home if I want to eat out since all the pubs and kebab shops here stopped allowing people the charge whilst eating or drinking. If I could just swap out the battery in 2 minutes I'd be near 100% all day if I wanted

Not all batteries last that long, most phones are literally engineered to have an "all day battery" when new but after 500 or so cycles (about 2 years of use) it stops being the case.

no actually.
I used to edc a Samsung xcover pro 2 and I had three total batteries for it and a external battery charger.
When you actually use your phone, you start to realise how fucking garbage apps are. I can get like 7 hours out of each battery wandering around Japan using Maps all day. Much more convenient to pack a second battery and swap it out.

Don't all smartphone manufacturers do this?
>No headphone jack so they can sell you wireless earbud slop
This shitty behavior has been affecting most smartphones sadly. Luckily a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter is cheap, but doesn't fully solve the root problem.

The chink batteries exists because manufacturers refuse to provide batteries at all.

Once there is an expectation that batteries are meant to be replaced, the onus is on the original manufacturers to flood the market as a matter of safety

It's either that or a plain admission that sealed batteries where never about "safety"

it would be so much better if the entire phone could be disassembled with only a screwdriver and a prying tool, along with rubber gaskets being used for waterproofing, which some chinese phone models are already doing
