holy trinity of redhatware being pushed down our throat without our consent. also flatpak.

I'm so fucking tired. I don't even pay attention to what distro I install anymore, I just pull my containers and work. The password on my NAS is more important.

In my honest opinion
>pipewire
no difference between that and pulseaudio
>Wayland
I use xorg but there's absolutely no difference between wayland and xorg both are essentially the same software
>systemd
just better than all other init systems only unemploymend retards cry about it

>pipewire
Is great, I don't see how any one can defend pulseaudio. I never run into dummy input problems and the graph representation makes it easy to troll people online by routing my voice through AI voice changers. But, pipewire does not work with old videogames so I stopped using it.

your brain is legitimately cooked anon. pipewire replaced the redhatware known as pulseaudio and was universally adopted within 18 months for being so much better technically and ideologically. also in the real world and not the gitlab issue tracker, the real reference implementation of wayland is kwin, the best bulwark against redhat we have. xorg is redhatter than wayland since around 2021.

Pipewire is SO much better than anything that came before it's not funny.
Systemdick and gayland aren't that much better than the alternatives but they Work on My Machine® so whatever.

I get higher fps under wayland
Anonymous No.105614536 [Report]
pipewire is great if you need jack, so much better in every regard compared to pulseaudio it's not even funny
wayland also works well on kwin at the very least, including direct scanout of full screen windows
not a fan of systemd, but it does what I need it do

trying wayland
>mouse is noticeably laggy
>touhou runs at 12 fps with screen tearing
>weird boxes around my cursor and windows when i move them which sometimes leave afterimages of black squares
>main monitor setting doesnt seem to be applied
>scaling on the second monitor makes fonts blurry
>monitor 2 is actually half of monitor 1 and half of monitor 2

I love how both people who love and hate Wayland conflate it with the other two so often.

It's an insane false equivalence. Pipewire is an excellent project that's a better Pulse than the actual Pulse, it took less than five years to be a viable choice. systemd is a huge bloated monolith but the main features work extremely well, I disagree with it politically but it only took a few years to provide a superior UX to sysvinit. I can respect that.

Wayland has been an active project for 17 years. SEVENTEEN FUCKING YEARS. And it's STILL broken by design because it's designed around GNOME brain damage instead of real developer and user needs. It takes literally years for even the simplest and most obvious improvements to Wayland to be merged because the whole process is intentionally as difficult as possible. Working around its inherent problems requires gratuitous overuse of D-Bus (the biggest pile of shit you can even imagine) or sloppy ad-hoc extensions to its tiny and poorly designed protocols, which has fractured the hell out of the Linux desktop. It's sucked every bit of joy out of Linux while increasing the maintenance burden for developers by an order of magnitude, and all because the maintainers of the project have IBM's backing and enjoy being arrogant cunts for the sake of being arrogant cunts.

Plasma is still a silly and buggy project but I still support KDE for no other reason than because they're the biggest project that has the balls to admit Wayland sucks and needs to be fixed.

Same experience with Devuan, Artix, Arch, Alpine, Ubuntu, Fedora, FreeBSD etc. They are probably LLM engagement bots to boost post count.

Pipewire works okay (I've got some issues but more likely due to trannies at Firefox) but I'm of half a mind to just go full JACK.

Digital audio is definitely one area where Macs are solidly ahead. Everything just werks.™

>my system loading systemd projects through alt init just werks
>don't worry about millions of lines of code marked WONTFIX running as root
Yeah yeah. It's over a decade later and they're still pretending nothing but sysvinit and systemd exists. All those better projects like s6 and arcan don't exist. This pulseaudio 2.0 thing is so great! I love how it hogs 50+MB of RAM at idle for no reason! It's so hard to just use JACK or OSS or any other sane sound server directly.

But who am I kidding. I'm too dumb to install an operating system unless I use a livecd bundled with Gnome/KDE
