You know what's crazy?

iOS 26 was announced 1 week ago, BUT most apps already support the new GLASS look

Still, after 4 YEARS, Google can't fix its icon theming on Android!!!

A lot of macOS/iOS developers are pretty passionate about adhering to Apple's design guidelines.

idc what anyone says, left is sovl.
In fact I've come to the conclusion that this should have been the logical continuation of UI design after Fruitiger Aero, shader oriented rendering.
Think about it, Aero introduced shader compositing but still had to combine it with older methods since hardware wasn't so powerful at the time so they couldn't do much beyond a basic "glass" look. Then everything went to shit with a weird segway into CSS/SVG based rendering. Now some unpaid intern at Apple uncovered some ancient tablets deep within the MacOS repo describing the original plans for a fully shader based UI with metaphysical materials.

Google doesn't enforce theme API compliance as a prerequisite to be listed on its store, nor do any other Android stores. This is a good thing, actually. HIGs were a mistake, third party software should stick out from the base system.

Had it not been for Windows/Android, it definitely would have been. The problem with Vista wasn't only that it was demanding on anything other than premium spec PCs but also because Vista came preinstalled on plenty of different OEM computers (Vista Capable) which of course the OEM or Microsoft wouldn't properly QA for. This led to lawsuits and Win7 was clearly just a rushed release to fix Vista before they shifted to the far more performant Metro design introduced in Win8. The harmony between hardware and software is Apple's key advantage, which they haphazardly neglected when Forstall was replaced by Jony Ive. By 2013, Apple were already late to adopt flatshit and by the time iOS 7 rolled out, flatshit was the norm. Now that Apple have their own M/A chips across the board they can properly QA this UI redesign to make sure it isn't sluggish on their devices.

If anything this design is an incredibly smart move by Apple because if Windows/Android doesn't move past flatshit, they will look incredibly dated especially in contrast to the third party apps which are being redesigned to fit the new design trends. If they do, then it's another Vista situation waiting to happen because some Androids run on cheap shitty MediaTek processors and some Windows computers can't even run W11's transparency effects without shitting themselves.

Google's Material Design 3 already looks dated and people are shitting on it. Windows 11's adoption rate is the worst of any Windows in generations and 10 goes EOL this year. Liquid Glass will kill flatshit once and for all, the assblasting will be so spectacular we won't see even a hint of until at least next century.

Thanks for the history lesson I'm a zoomer and only remember using W7 2012-2016.
Writing on the wall is clear; write pretty and optimized UIs or die!

Okay and why can't Android do that? They're both using vector graphics.
