Blog post warning (especially since no one asked), but this seems appropriate to post here.
Recently, I broke out one of my old pixel phones with Graphene on it as an experiment. This time, I did not install Google Play services, not even FDroid. I used the pre-installed app store to give me the bare minimum (in my case, a music player and open maps).
Unsurprisingly, it does cut down pretty considerably on screen time. Every action felt much more intentional on my phone. My laptop has replaced some of that screen time, but everything is so much nicer on it for things like Youtube. A smartphone really is the worse way to experience content for the most part (outside of things like music). Also, another cool thing I noticed is that I actually call people more now instead of texting them. Probably going to stick with this going forward.
I'd recommend the Pixel/w Graphene OS route to people instead of flip phones if you're self-conscious of looking looking autistic with a flip phone.
