A flawless robot hand for amputees. It would be controlled with Meta's EMG wristband and something akin to a Tesla optimus hand would be used for the hand itself.

It will be world changing and all the technology already exists to make it happen.

Why no one has done this already is astonishing to me. It is so obvious and easy for big tech to do and would make billions of dollars.

Sam is pretending Jony is some genius deserving 6.5 Billion for his presence, there's a lot of symmetry there.

Really they are both just scammers, Sam is getting a kickback from that 6.5 Billion of OpenAI's money in some way, 100% guaranteed.

It reads muscle signals.

The way they treat tendons in amputations I doubt it will work, the muscles have nothing to pull on any more.

perfect finger tracking. It will work from pretty far down the arm so people without hands can use it. You can see how this can translate into the best and coolest robot hand in the world and for some reason it hasn't been done.

It reads nerve signals that are still sent even when someone has lost a hand.

Even if, which I doubt, it would not work for someone without a hand. It would still be pretty cool for someone with both hands to have a fully functional bionic hand as well.

Tendons are unattached in most amputees, the muscle has nothing to pull on any more which is going to fuck with muscle control.

Relearning only goes so far, the autonomous nervous system expects the muscle to be pulling on something.

The muscles are still in tension, the equivalent for an amputee would be suturing the tendons to the bone stump. They don't generally do that.

The muscles don't need to pull on anything. People just have to think of manipulating their hand - like they did previously - and the prosthetic would intercept the nerve impulse, before converting it into a signal for the actuators.
Theoretically, they don't even need their stump, since the spinal cord itself could be monitored. However, there aren't really any portable instruments with sufficient resolution for that.

They read the electrical activity triggered by the motor nerves, not the electrical activity of the motor nerves themselves. The somewhat correct functioning of the muscle is essential. Since my common sense fails to convince you, I'll appeal to authority.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8694273/
>For example, residual muscles must be stabilized to either muscle or bone at appropriate tensions [39, 40] because insufficient or too high tension can lead to atrophy, contractures, and/or pain. These resulting issues can affect residual muscle activity [39–41] and the quality of EMG signals in prosthesis control.
Obviously.

Nothing has changed. A muscle with its tendons cut will generate totally shit sEMG signals and relearning can not correct that.

one thing to understand here is that they're the new google, with all it's implications. On top of that they got handed a list on how to send most people to unemployment by bot.
The last is that this is a jewish, most likely zionist company. So yes they are indeed cooking.
