What is up with all the parents given letting their kids be glued to a phone/tablet 24/7? I go to a grocery store, and see kids no older than 4 with an I-pad, I-phone, or some other such device everywhere. This parental neglect is already melting the brains of this generation, they can't concentrate nor read for shit.

The worst part is that the parents in these cases are people that actually have had experience with technology in their younger years, so they don't have the boomer excuse of it being some sort of black magic to them.

Being glued to screens actually isn't even something that's exclusive to Gen-Alpha. It infamously exists amongst Zoomers as well, and they've basically been characterized as a generation of shut-ins afraid of human-interaction. Gen-Alpha has even more unlimited reign with tech and online garbage at an even younger age.
>How do you know they can't concentrate or read
Being more specific, it's concentration and reading comprehension.

If it's not some dumb internet phrase, kids don't know how to process it.

The truth is that parents don't care about their kids. They never have. In the past they sent them to die in wars. Or did psychological damage to them as uncaring parents. Maybe the mom brought home a boyfriend that she knew was abusive to them. And currently, they are letting their kids brains be completely wrecked by a screen. This is worse than letting a 4 year old smoke cigarettes.

i visited my mom and my autistic little half brother. sadly he's had a tablet most of his life. and i don't know if the autism makes it worse or if he'd react badly if I tried to move him away from it. Whenever I tried to discourage it, he would keep using it.
One time when we were walking in the mall, I told my mom we should probably take the tablet away and leave it in the car, because I was so visibly embarrassed walking around with a little boy with a tablet because it made ME look bad. She said "no just leave him," so I didn't do anything. I tried to keep his attention away, saying things like, hey lets look around the mall, lets spot some things, but because I'm a pussy I couldn't physically grab that tablet from him, because I was afraid of the potential freakout, not to mention I wasn't given the green light to do so in the first place. Oh well, not my kid, and really not my problem. I'm not particularly close to that little brother, but he really likes me for some reason, always wanting me to visit and stuff. There's only so much I could do. kids model after their elders, so if all he's seeing is people being on the phone all the time at home, that's what he's gonna do too.

What you're seeing now is no different than when boomers were coming of age. Leaving children in front of a screen to babysit them while the parents slave away at work or do house chores is a long standing tradition. The main difference now is everyone has their own screen to stare at and gets their own feed of propaganda. Instead of broadcasts and the family watching propaganda together you now have everyone staring at their own screen and getting their own special mix of propaganda from their personal feed.

It's true that it's brain rot. It's also true that now people spend more time with the screen than in the past. It used to be that you spent time with the screen on weekends and after work/school. Now the screen goes with you everywhere and you can pull it out to be distracted even in public. It isn't like 20-30 years ago when you had times in the day when you didn't have access to the screen. So each generation becomes more and more retarded (and divided) as time goes on.

When I was a small child in first grade there was a group of older ladies that came around wanting us to sign contracts and agree not to watch TV for an entire week. No one signed up because we thought they were retarded because they said the Simpsons were the devil and video games were bad for us. We wanted to have fun playing NES and Genesis games after school then spend family time on the weekends watching Simpsons and shit like Rescue 911. But they were right and we should have listened. They weren't totally right. Since they were just trying to replace the TV propaganda with the church propaganda. But a stopped clock is right now and again.

The propaganda is worse than ever since now it's interactive. There was a time when it wasn't pure propaganda and you could actually find useful stuff through the screen in the early days of the internet. Compared to TV it was really good. But now the internet is as bad as the TV ever was.

The same thing you fucking retard. Here's how it was in the 80s/90s
>wake up at 8am
>eat breakfast
>get on bus to school
>go to school
>eat lunch
>leave school at 3pm
>take bus home
>get home
>do homework
>eat dinner
>watch tv/play videogames before bed
>repeat
>on weekends parents wanted you out of the house
Here's how it is now
>wake up, check device
>eat breakfast while checking device
>get on bus and watching device
>go to school
>checking device whenever possible
>eat lunch, of course watching device
>take bus home, again checking device
>get home
>do homework, still checking device
>eat dinner, watching device
>go to bed
>repeat
>on weekends parents are afraid to let you leave the house so spend all day and night on devices

>The same thing you fucking retard
Yes retard. Same thing. Glad we agree. Why are you even attempting to pretend that people were addicted to their screens in the 80s/90s?

They watched the morning news before leaving for work/school. They had to sit through boring shit on screens at work/school. They played with their gameboys and gamegears during breaks. They shitposted on USENET and email. The sat around at lunch watching soap operas and noon news. They went to the arcade after school or the bar after work where they watched sportsball. The family gathered together after work/school to watch the evening news together then "primetime" programming and/or sportsball. They watched the Sunday family movie together. They paid money to go to the big screen and watch hollyjew movies. Or they loaded up the family in the car to watch big screen in a field aka the drive-in theater.

That doesn't even cover the vidya they had at home. Everyone had a NES by the late 90s. Everyone had Atari in the 70s.

The only difference now is it's no longer a family activity and people don't gather around the same screen as often. Everyone has their own screen now. Just like in the 90s children started getting their own screen in their bedrooms because family could afford more than one TV. Typical house in the 90s in America had at least 3 screens. Big one in the living room. Smaller one in the parent's bedroom. Then whatever left over trash screen used to be in the living room in the children's room. Richfags even had them in the kitchen so they wouldn't have to miss a minute of programming while they ate.

Of course I lived through this time. You've just read about it. So you think people being retarded screen watchers is somehow a new phenomenon

>Why are you even attempting to pretend that people were addicted to their screens in the 80s/90s?
Because they weren't. People rode in cars, walked, went to school, went to work, went to restaurants, etc without access to a screen.
>everyone had an NES
Yeah, which they played when they weren't at school or when their parents let them play inside. You are so fucking delusional that it's sad. Smartphones/tablets give people (especially kids) pretty much 24 hour access to a screen. Anything from the past was a few hours at most.

You obviously weren't alive then so you have no right to have an opinion. Allow me to walk you through average day in 1998;
>Wake up
>TV already on. Grandfather woke up at 4am and tuned to the local news
>eat breakfast
>watch Pokemon and Sailor Moon on local WB channel while waiting on school bus
>catch bus at end of drive way
>play pokemon or tetris or whatever on Gameboy color for 15-20 minute ride to school
>walk to hallway to sit in hall and wait for first class to start
>talk to friends about what happened on WWF Raw and WCW Nitro the night before
>one friend wants to know if I recorded it on VHS since his family is poor and doesn't own satellite dish like mine
>class starts
>suffer through 15 minutes of the popular kids doing the "school news" show on the classroom's TV
>Then suffer through 15 minutes of "Channel 1 News" propaganda from Government approved school propaganda network
>Turn in homework and do basic math for the next hour or so
>Go to science class
>Watch VHS tape of some bullshit the teacher recorded on the Discovery Channel
>take multiple choice test on what we saw
>Go to lunch, everyone talks about WWF Raw and WCW Nitro or vidya
>Go to computer class
>stare at screen for two hours because I typed my assignment in 5 minutes
>go to library
>check out some books then spend half hour browsing the internet on the T1 line the entire county shares. Might as well be dial-up
>Go to another class where I'll likely just watch TV. If Social Students maybe suffer through CSPAN
>Time to ride bus home. Play more Gameboy
>Arrive home. Watch DBZ then play vidya
>Probably watch cartoons or something since it's Tuesday and nothing is on
>fall asleep to television on in the background

Rinse and repeat.

I'm 47 years old, faggot.
>TV already on. Grandfather woke up at 4am and tuned to the local news
He's retired, what does this have to do with kids?
>>watch Pokemon and Sailor Moon on local WB channel while waiting on school bus
This is what? 15 minutes?
>>play pokemon or tetris or whatever on Gameboy color for 15-20 minute ride to school
Again, 15 minutes.
>>talk to friends about what happened on WWF Raw and WCW Nitro the night before
Nowadays they just text each other. You are proving my point.
>>suffer through 15 minutes of the popular kids doing the "school news" show on the classroom's TV
This was a rare thing. And it's forced, not the same thing.
>>Watch VHS tape of some bullshit the teacher recorded on the Discovery Channel
Again, rare thing, you weren't watching TV in school every fucking day you fucking faggot.
>Go to lunch, everyone talks about WWF Raw and WCW Nitro or vidya
Still proving my point more and more. Today it's just all of them on their phones.
>>stare at screen for two hours because I typed my assignment in 5 minutes
Again, not the same thing. A kid using an ipad right now for assignments is not the same as him using an ipad every 30 seconds in his free time.
>>check out some books then spend half hour browsing the internet on the T1 line the entire county shares. Might as well be dial-up
Again, helps my point.
>>Go to another class where I'll likely just watch TV. If Social Students maybe suffer through CSPAN
What a lying faggot you are. You're telling me that all you did in school was watch TV and play on the computer? Holy fuck retard, at least try to make it believable.
>>Time to ride bus home. Play more Gameboy
At least this is believable.
>>Arrive home. Watch DBZ then play vidya
So no homework? No parent telling you to go outside? No eating dinner?
This is your last (you). You lying faggot

Okay.

I didn't even talk about the hours spent shitposting on places like ultimatedbz.com and planetnamek.com. But I guess that wouldn't count either. Since you lack reading comprehension there is no point continuing this discussion.

You're kind of proving my point. You're so fucking retarded from a life spent in front of screens you can't even figure out that people have been addicted to screens your entire life. As if it matters if the screen is 21 inch CRT broadcasting propaganda or 6 inch LED drip feeding you propaganda.

I didn't say they didn't count, I said they weren't real and didn't happen.
>"dude, I went to school then watched TV in 2 classes then finished my computer assignment so quickly that I just browsed on the T1 line!"
Fucking retard.
And again, no homework, no parent telling you to go outside, no dinner. Just "I got home and stared at a screen, even as I slept". Faggot.
>You're kind of proving my point.
No, you're proving mine. I said "kids are on their devices every free minute" and you had numerous "we talked about this or that at lunch", which is how it used to be, unlike now. You proved my point and didn't even realize it (even after I pointed it out).
>people have been addicted to screens your entire life.
No, they USED screen. They weren't addicted to them. As I said, people would leave their houses and live lives without screens in their pockets. Now it's impossible and kids are being hit the worst. You are just a zoomer defending this nonsense and you don't realize it.

The past wasn't better. While boomers had very limited exposure to screens, they were very heavy drinkers. They weren't checking their smartphone back in the day, but they were drinking and smoking all the time.

So the main difference between then and now is, that society has replaced traditional drugs with digital drugs.

not him but i remember once in math class the teacher gathered some example data for a demonstration by asking everyone how much time they spend on a computer each day. i don't remember the exact numbers, but it was mostly an hour or two if even an hour, and this was around 2004 or so, so nobody had smartphones (i knew one person with a smartphone in 2004, but it was a rare thing to want/have). i remember this because my answer was so high that it was made an example of an outlier

Boomers are based
>Live an amazing life thanks to the hardwork of your parents/grandparents who went through hell
>Proceed to do various things throughout your tenure on Earth that will make life shitty for future gens
>Gaslight them about their sad state of affairs and larp about all the hardships you've supposedly had to face in life and why they shouldn't complain about their's.
They've won, know they're untouchable and don't give a fuck what happens once they inevitably kick the bucket.
