This is not flammatory or exaggeration. This is not simply "decrying the end of LTT" as Linus once put it, as it is very clear the once friendly, funny tech channel has already fallen hard over the years. I don't need to summarize every single thing that has happened or been shared by LMG staff and Gamer's Nexus over the past 24 hours.

As for those that continued to foster an environment of damaging, unfair workplace practices and discrimination: you and LTT will never have me in your audience again.

I began watching LTT in 2013 when Scrapyard Wars began. Here's to ten years of content. I hope to find more elsewhere.

I got out of PC building in about 2019/2020. Back then LTT was generally regarded as one of the best channels and had a cult following here.

Past couple of months I've gotten back into it and I've seen a couple of people talking about a distaste they have for him, and looking up "ltt controversy" gives a few mixed results with varying levels of consistency. Just curious, not looking to spark a debate, just want a fair answer.

The thing that soured me on them is that an employee came forward with allegations that leadership are all a bunch of workaholics who expect the same from employees. They're not legally allowed to force employees to do things like staying two hours late every night, but the company's culture is always biased towards empowering employees with terrible work-life balance. This includes harassing employees who want to work the actual shift they're scheduled for and turning a blind eye when other employees do the same.

For me, honestly, the problem was less the stealing from a startup, selling their prototype, lying and trying to cover up bad behavior, and more the harrasment and driving a young woman to hurt herself.

I'd found I'd been developing a bad parasocial relationship with the chanel and linus for all his douchiness, and all that wound up being an exit point, because when you start actually having negative feelings toward a youtuber, you need to stop watching videos and look in the mirror.

I _DO_ miss the news channel, though...just because despite their douchbagness, it was a decent rundown of current news 3x weekly...I need to find a replacement.

TL;DR - GN found a lot of issues with their hardware testing methodology that should put into question whether they can be trusted as a reputable source of hardware reviews. Cutting corners and not being thorough, in the name of churning out content at a rapid clip.

Additionally, they did something majorly sketchy with a review prototype they received from a small waterblock startup company. The review sample they received was specifically for something like a 3080 or 3090 (I don't remember which), but LTT decided to test it on a 4090 instead, and gave it a bad review after it didn't fit properly. Then to top it off, they auctioned off this unique prototype without the company's permission.

edit: loling right now at the LTT fanboys below dismissing the valid issues raised, with a "haters gonna hate" argument...

I noticed that too. Very insufferable lately. It seems like he almost sabotages shit on purpose to get more content out of it. The guy yanked on the power cords on his home server and caused a huge spark. Who the hell does that? He can't just just point at stuff anymore, he has to shake them, tap them, and unplug them while they're still fully powered. He just has the arrogance of a spoiled teenager and not the confidence of a man who knows what he's doing.

I don't enjoy his video anymore. He's just too frustrating to watch these days.

You can tell Linus very much thinks he's the victim in this, and that's the problem. He still thinks he's the scrappy little Youtuber trying to get by when he's driving a Porsche and dumping 6 figures into his 7 figure home. The fact he loves to brag constantly about how many people he employs shows the ego more and more everyday. I found it distasteful a couple years ago and it took an implosion to make many more see it too.

LTT is an entertainment channel pretending to be an authority on tech. This is why GN and HUB have viewers and LTT has fanboys.

The LTT problem won't go away until Linus has a reality check. He's lucky his fanboys saved him this time and they only lost several hundred thousand subs.

True. But it used to have at least some effort towards professional review, nerdy facts, or geeky fun. Now it is just infantile cringe entertainment. Linus built a functional multi million business, i can't deny that. But I can't watch it anymore as the video style simply insults my character. It has it's viewers and they won't miss me, time for me to move on.
