In all seriousness, though, yeah it does have issues if you go to use anything a bit specialised. I ended up swapping to a 7800XT and took out my Creative Sound Blaster AE-5; ended up with a Fiio K3 for better sound since it has a mode that requires no drivers.
It took a bit of messing around with games, but overall I found improved performance. My Windows install was old (a 10 to 11 upgrade), so maybe that tied into it, but once you sort Proton out on Steam, things really do just werk. I even got a Valve Index running, though game stability and performance has been mixed.
Mint is really meant for tourists. It's for people doing very normie-tier stuff, with the UI just similar enough to keep them comfortable. I haven't got everything I want set up just yet, but I have most things, and reading about the shitshow going on with Windows recently has left my smug and comfy.
Use Mint to get your family off Windows, especially if their PC won't upgrade to 11. I did it for my dad; he's an apex boomer and even he figured it out.
