>>105634896It is e-waste because it's not fit for purpose. It's too expensive to be a kid computer.
It's too weak for the adult audience and this combined with the shit battery life means that it will hammer the battery and will require early replacement if you actually plan to use the thing.
>>105634918>ability to upgrade itHow ? There is only 1 DIMM slot and only 1 size limited M.2 slot. They have not promised any motherboard upgrades for the chassis yet. Your not even betting on framework to be true to their engagements you're straight up wishing on a star.
Considering there is nothing to upgrade the only argument is long term availability of parts and the battery. But why would you keep a piece of shit like this for long enough for this to matter ? Also the weak battery will rack up cycles faster and require early replacement. And they aren't cheap. If you want the repairability framework promises then wait for them to come up with a non shitty 12.
It only makes sense to repair when you get value out of it otherwise you might as well just buy from a conventional brand. I won't recommend any because while they are better options I still loathe them because most 2 in 1s are unreliable and/or come with soldered ram. Also nothing is as small as the framework 12. You'll be hard pressed finding any laptop at this size period.
But you simply can't sell me such as shitty device when I could get a Yoga 7i for the same price than a barebones i5 kit. It's literally two times the computer in every regard. The battery and screen especially. I would much rather get that device.
I am willing to pay the repairability tax. I am not willing to get fucked in the ass for the privilege.
