I hate women but computer science =/= code monkey. The algorithm and the code that implements it are two seperate things.

You're only upset because the guy on the right isn't Indian and the one on the left is a woman.

>You realize that *unfounded assertion*
I don't, actually.
900k lines of code would be a giant project by scientific computing standards.
Geant4 has around 1.5 million and that's a library that's been in development by a whole collaboration for a quarter-century.

You will not get close to this for a single-purpose research program.

Every line you change is a +1,-1 and that also includes comments.

He may be the most important contributor, but the diffs track the number of lines added and removed in aggregate, not the number of lines from the current project that he added.

I'm about at the stage he was at in 1991 except on top of having everything he has, I also have some of thr achirvements he's only gotten ca. 1997.
So I'm quite ahead of him at my career stage and age. Still can't get interviews though.

I dunno if they did aperture synthesis method but if they were, then they would have numerous small telescopes around the world to emulate a massive earth-sized telescope. A lot of maths is involved to synthesise the signals received by all the small telescopes into the image that the large telescope would have seen.
It's interferometry except you can't get the light rays to meet up so instead you need to use quantum physics to simulate how those light rays would interfere. You need to measure the phase of all the light signals from all these telescopes and feed it into a supercomputer that can perform the quantum physics simulation to ultimately obtain the true image. At least that's what I remember my high school physics teacher saying.

IIRC, he created some calibration files or something similar. Machine-generated code, thousands and thousands of lines that drop out of a script. He added and committed them to the repo. You could create millions of "lines of code" in under a minute if this were a metric anyone outside of /g/ cared about.

I've coded 150k over 3 years for a project and what I realize is that 70k is much more reasonable.
I don't think you realize how insanely large an 800k loc codebase is. I'm not saying there may not be a few people in the world who can manage that, but I am saying, you can probably count them with your fingers.
