Cause they locked my account all of a sudden after some years and said I need a phone number to keep using it "for my security". I didn't want to, but I had some contacts there that I didn't have anywhere else and I would have lost contact with them.

listen friend. they demand a phonenumber because you broke one of their secret hidden rules and now you are on their watch list. maybe some faggot in a channel you belonged to posted cp, or terroristic threats, or commited some kind of copyright crime. Your account is now on the bad goy list. It will always be on the bad goy list. Your email is also blacklisted. You will always, and forever, have to give them your phone number so they can identify you for court records and other law enforcement bullshit.

doesnt matter. discord practices guilt by association as their main policy. I was once in a gardening discord and some of the members sperged out during covid, thinking the world was going to end, and started ramping up their schitzoposting until the channel was shut down. Everyone in the channel was forced to either login with their number or never get their account back. Just make a new account pm a new email and move on, or use a burner number (not that it matters since they now have your original number and will always keep it on their side)

This makes so much sense over why it happened even though I haven't done anything suspicious at any point, but it also seems kinda unfair to hold me liable for what everyone else does, I'm in several servers with hundreds of members just because it's the only place where I can get updates on certain manga series, game mods, early access builds or game patches, because the creators are fags who only use discord as social contact.
