Some things it gets right Some things it gets partially right some things it just cant do. Its usually easier to edit or correct vs making something from scratch not always and especially not if dont understand the thing.

I'm studying for my PhD in an engineering field. We all use AI for research and to bounce ideas off of. Most of the staff do to.
One of the senior staff will send me back edits he makes to my code with AI generated comments. It's all pretty normal and accepted and it helps us get more stuff done.
Everyone would be able to tell and be annoyed if you used it to write an essay rather than explore an individual idea though.

The point of going to a university in the 2020's for tech is to fulfill the prerequisites for an internship to get that work experience and take advantage of the career programs there. Since internships don't take people who aren't studying for a bachelor's for some reason.

at my former job, i did. 95% of my job I automated (but not with AI, it wasnt advanced and easily accessible then) and it allowed me to basically do nothing all day and get paid to do it. Now my job is well... automating things, but other peoples tasks not my own tasks
