They usually have weird composition issues, like things moving around if you open the file in libreoffice and then in office, but don't know if they fixed those things, it's been a hell of a lot of time since I last opened and shared office documents.

You joke, but it's an unfortunate reality for many who rely on them. LibreOffice and Only Office really needs to get gud for power users and prove themself to the professional environment. The much of the causal and light users switched to google docs and sheets already. For light users, google suite slam dunks office 365. LibreOffice and Only Office are already good enough for those light users that don't want to use google suite. That's why those alternatives need to start focusing on power users and small business, while maintaining accessibility for basic use cases. Otherwise, we'll continue to see shit like this continue.

As a matter of fact, this is from the new free version of office. The ads aren't there to convince you of anything. They're really just something to annoy you into paying for a subscription or $400 for a permanent license, but by lowering the barrier of entry to $0, Microsoft helps ensure you can never switch to something else becase if you do switch, one day you will run into an old word document that doesn't render 100% the same.
