My T440S died last night. Suddenly reboot, I log in, screen turns black, keyboard went black ,noisy sound, fan turns off. It Restarted? again and then kinda locked situation. Saw the bios only 2 times since then , did use the bottom reset button, try to use it without build in battery. Years ago it fell to the ground and the screen started flickering here and there. A key on the keyboard was broken too.

If read right the Yoga series is shit? Touchscreen was great for scrolling, need it again. Any series which is dogshit, when buying refurbished? I saw X370/380.

I am at my wits end with ThinkPads, I'm seriously considering getting a fucking Framework.
At work, I use a X13 Gen 4 AMD.
It's great.
I liked it so much that I bought one for myself.
So I got it, and the keyboard and touchpad on the one I bought completely fucking suck and are nowhere similar in feel or sound to my work X13 G4.
Like the one I got, the keyboard and touchpad are much much louder and feel worse than the ones on my work X14 G4.
I lost both the keyboard and the touchpad lottery, oh and also the screen lottery because mine came with a BOE panel.

I fucking hate these niggers so much.
Every part has 2 or 3 different manufacturers and they are all completely different in quality.
Buying a brand new ThinkPad is a complete fucking lottery.

My work X13 has a LiteOn (LI) keyboard, my personal X13 has a Sunrex (SU) keyboard.
Most people probably wouldn't notice the difference or really care, but yeah the keyboard hierarchy is like this:
LiteOn>Chicony>>>>>>>>Sunrex=Transimage
It's over.

Got a used T14 g2 for 280. Love this damn thing. Only had tiny damage in part of the speaker grille. Put a new stick of RAM and new ssd in it. Runs really good.

I installed Win11 IoT LTSC on it.

Just got my T14s G2a with the 5850u and 16gb of ram.
It's a little scuffed and missing a foot, but for only $180, it's pretty good.
It's very sleek looking, the trackpad is much nicer than I expected, and trackpoint is gigabased.
Installed Win11 LTSC IOT and x mouse control so middle click works.

I like it.

Is the Lenovo one any good compared to the cheapo 10-15 wireless ones?

why the fuck are you buying a thinkpad if you're not using the trackpoint? there are so many better brands that beat thinkpads on every metric at every price point, the only reason to get a thinkpad is for the trackpoint

Hello frens. I want to buy a real laptop, and naturally I am thinking about P50, P51 and P52. These are not that expensive and have all the power a man could want. If you've used one of these, please do tell me about your experience, and perhaps which one I should get? I am leaning towards the P52 because of the P2000, which as much as i see is as good as a 1050, meaning I will be able to play Rocket League sometimes. Do these models have USB-A delay? Some laptops have it, not sure if P series is cheaped out. Also, what is the build quality? Yes I see people in reviews say it's amazing, but I've bought T495 and I am not happy with the build quality, it's not like my X220.

You warned me about replaceable keyboards.
I should have listened.
Now LMB on my X1 is double clicking.
Is there anything I can do before buying the entire lower body + keyboard fru and swapping out literally the entire laptop part by part?
Is it possible to disable touchpad mouse move but keep scroll gestures and clicks?

Correct
>What about a T470/480 with touchscreen?
They're better, but because hinges always fail on the screen (base is thicker and the hinge can be bolted down properly), the thinner thinkpads with the solid part on the screen are really fugly to repair once it happens.
Pic rel is what I mean.
>>105656982
Yeah I wasn't aware that the quality of different suppliers was so atrociously different. Always thought lelnovo would keep an eye on this, at least on the X branded pads.

eBay for both of these, though they can be pricy, if you want original plastic decals like the x220 on the bezel or the thinkpad badge on the lid you’ll want to try aliexpress sellers who specialize in those parts, and see if they sell the stickers separate
>>105659623
I had a P50 for a while with the M2000m and liked it, it played GTA V at higher settings in 1080p for a solid 60fps
I never noticed any issues with mouse or keyboard latency, but I also at most played some csgo casual on it, in terms of more latency dependent games
And yeah the P series are built like tanks. They don’t feel super premium or anything like an X1 carbon would, but they feel like you can’t break them. They’re heavy, solid, they don’t flex, the hinges feel better than the others of its generation, they very much so handle like a solid tool, not just any other computer.
>>105658926
Not a bad price for the display, the ram shouldn’t be a huge issue for what else the machine is realistically going to be doing

There are so few of these core2 models left out there that we don’t really see clean ones pop up out of nowhere anymore.
It used to be fairly common for some recycler to stumble across a business still using decade old laptop for some reason and dump them on eBay. But those days have long since passed, anything you see now is individual finds or machines that have already circulated back into recycling a second time.
I wouldn’t even be looking at those types of listings anymore, if you really want a nearly 20 year old thinkpad it’s better to look at individual sales of machines someone else has already restored a little.
