the "dead internet theory" is such a retardedly stupid concept when you think about it for more than a couple seconds
the idea of a space made up by ai where ai and ai speak to each other without a smidgen of human interaction has to be the biggest waste of resources imagineable

We already have AI talking to AI on man-made spaces, not that far-fetched to take the final step.

>the idea of a space made up by ai where ai and ai speak to each other without a smidgen of human interaction has to be the biggest waste of resources imagineable
So why does that make it less likely to be true?

It doesn't make sense if you assume it's a coordinated psyop from one party

It makes perfect sense when you realize that there are multiple independent parties with incentives for deploying bots to "chat" with people on the internet, and as the ratio of bots to users increases inevitably some bots will end up talking to other bots

There is no great conspiracy, humans are just garbage and will optimize anything good into being garbage just because they think that turning it into garbage will net them more money in the short term

What many people miss about the dead internet theory is that AI is only a small part of it.
Web pages for brands, businesses, companies, governments, NGOs and the like are part of the dead internet. Propaganda, paid for posts, shills, psyops, astroturf shit and current thing posts are also part of the dead internet.
The point that the dead internet theory makes is that the majority of "content" you interact with isn't being posted by "real" people. If someone posts something because he's being paid to do it, or like in China, intimidated into doing it, or doing it out of complacency, they no longer count as real people who have come to discuss stuff on the internet. It doesn't matter what they look like, where they're from or even what they post, as long as they do it out of their own free will.
This is why the internet feels so artificial and that makes it dead.

The internet was dead even before AI became a thing.

Not to mention, even before AI, the automated blogspam or other spam websites. Any tiem you search for anything, it's impossible to find legitimate information, it's all autogenerated spam sites with the same regurgitated generic non-info trying to make money off of you. Or like how google will claim 'found 123986347856345876345 results in 0.0001 seconds!" Yet you usually can't get beyond the 2nd or 3rd page of results. They don't even index most of the "old" web anymore at all.

It won't be only AI, humans will still use the internet, but mostly unkowingly interact with bots and only occasionaly with humans. This is great news for advertisers and tech companies because it makes it much easier to influence you.

Did you miss when bot generated traffic has officially overtaken human generated traffic? It's not a theory.

>It's not a theory.
It literally is a theory. A theory is a hypothesis that has been tested and is supported by evidence.

metadata is the most vabluble commodity in the world
it stands to reason that someone can get rich farming fake data
