Is there any technical reason why GNOME doesn't support server side decorations on Wayland?
If you added support for the protocol in a merge request, would they accept it?

laziness. and let's just say you coded a great solution that doesn't break compatibility, it would be rejected because epussy or one of his homosexual friends can't claim any credit for the code or idea. they are so petty that they would rather set back gnome by years just so they could take credit for making it better.

Wayland doesn't support per-window theming in SSDs. You must use CSDs if you want GTK windows to look consistent with dark theming.

Gnome is a project by microsoft to sabotage Linux, so no. They just want to give the impresssion of a semi functional product, but painful to use. It's how microsoft sabotages Linux.

There are ideological reasons that they would never accept that feature being added or merged, which they might pretend are technical reasons. That goes for a lot of gnome decisions.

Gnome only is supposed to run GNOME™ apps. If Linux apps happen to work it is only coincidental.

Gnome is genuinely awful, GTK in general just feels gross sloppy amateur software. Highly opinionated in the wrong way, clunky and obtuse. Limited functionality. Like a Hollywood movie parody of a desktop, not designed for actual use, looks like a Flash website from 2001.

No, they're unpaid volunteers. They don't have the time to over your merge request.

It does? Why are you lying?

Also server side decoration is objectively worse

No they didn't, it takes 5 seconds to look the issues up instead of listening to Pedordie Robertson
>Wayland inherently works by asking clients (programs) to draw themselves
>Which means they have to draw window controls too
>Later down the line an SSD protocol came along
>The protocol only allows clients to ask for SSD which can still be denied even if supported (COSMIC does this)
>Clients still need to CSD as a fallback because they can only control what they draw

All GNOME applications use client side window decorations as dictated by the laws of the GNOME HIG. So tell me...What *exactly* is the usecase for server side window decorations when none of the GNOME apps are going to be using it, hmm?

If you are going to make pull requests then you have to explain the usecase behind them. Just because you make a pull request does NOT mean we are under any obligation to accept it.

Usecase means everything.
