They already stopped shadowing yesterday lol. The livestream few people are doing has no shadow car. They did have some remote assistance button that took like few minutes to connect through and had choppy connections due to cell signal issue for that livestream I was watching.

There are no remote drivers and no safety drivers. The car is driving itself 100%. There's a safety monitor and a remote customer services call. But neither are doing anything. From the videos the remote assistant is laggy given poor cell reception. The safety monitor just monitors. They're not driving. They dont control the wheels. They dont control the pedals. I used a Waymo while in Arizona. It was alright. Drove a bit too slow and safe for my liking though.

In places where riders have a choice between a robo taxi and a service like Uber/Lyft, most riders will pick the robo taxi, even though they're typically more expensive. That's why full speed highway self driving is so difficult, you can't just stop as a fail safe. There was one trucking company who went on the highway without safety drivers, but they only drove for a couple of days before putting them back in for reasons.
