>>105678432You're projecting your inadequacies to understand the information you were presented with. That is the shadow. The undesirable, uneasy, nasty parts of you. The inadequacy, the vitriol, the anger and the resentment. It's easy to externalize those parts of you onto others or the world, after all it was me who made you feel this way, right?
Shadow work is hard, you need to face those parts of you and realize that you can integrate them into your ego, to realize that those parts of you have a purpose, place and time. That they aren't shameful or "bad", but that they should be able to serve you. You are not an animal pushed and pulled by impulses and emotions but a master of your mind and your actions, and when you realize that you become unstoppable in whatever goal you set for yourself.
Shadow work is also needed, for whole of society to function in ever changing world every single person needs to "face their demons" otherwise the society as a whole begins to crumble as we isolate ourselves in our dysfunction. Integrating our shadow makes us functional part of society. This is why shadow work is integral. This is what social media is doing by mirroring the deepest ugliest parts of you. This is why it irks you so deeply when social media mirrors you back.
This is also why you had a need to insult me or Carl Jung to call us pseuds. You felt personal direct connection with this information, an intellectual standoff where "someone is above" and "someone is below" intellectually, and they're faking their prowess.
Now tell me, did your father demean your curiosity and intellectual pursuits? Did you achieve his goals of intellectual pursuits like finishing college where he might have failed it?
