Top three are the main ones. 4th is just a bad idea regardless of the industry.
Some real examples are how I was considering switching to NVidia but saw all the marketing for AI features (with their own specific processors) I wouldn't enable anyway. It would feel like I'm wasting my money. I'm actually not against things like framegen, but that's better for low-end cards and NV is hugely missing out by not capitalizing on that. If I'm spending 500+$ on a graphics card I better not need that in the first place.
Another example is pretty much everything I've seen from Windows 11 actually has me considering a Mac. Apple stuck to a formula that worked for years and now they're coming out with a new UI that actually has personality and stands out. Meanwhile the W11 UX has a bunch of decisions that make no sense like a browser with ads and articles in the start menu. A Microsoft version of Honey in edge. Copilot button in fucking notepad. The taskbar is unrecognizable.
I can't even find a TV that isn't some smart "Google TV" OS. It's always laggy as hell and redundant when I'm going to connect it to a console or HTPC anyway.
If I'm spending my money on something I want every dollar to count toward a seamless experience. I don't want to waste my time and money on gimmicks I'm not going to use. Then there's always bonus points for cool or interesting designs that have personality.
