You don't need to buy anything. Just install linux on your laptop and jailbreak your phone.

anything without an apple logo is good. i stopped buying their shit when apple decided:
> no. we are going to keep iphone at 2016 specs for eternity but with slightly better processors and make tiny incremental updates while continually increases the price every year
can't take those lame fuckers seriously.

Your issue is that you think a phone is a useful computing device. It's not. It's a basic appliance made for doing simple things like looking at a map or checking your bank balance. Phones have already achieved everything they possibly can they're not going to change much at all from here on out.

that's everyone's issue.
> It's a basic appliance
then a $250 android should be suffice for you. that's what modern iphone feels like using.

Literally don't, I've switched to a Pixel 9 XL it's purgatory when you're used to the quality of apps people release on iOS.

Get a Pixel, pay in cash, install GrapheneOS (super easy), then install Google Play Services via the integrated app store.
Get a Thinkpad, pay in cash, install Debian, pick KDE during installation.
Welcome home, white man.

only buy the thinkpad if it supports coreboot and skip google play services.

Agree.

I would install it anyway, OP comes from Apple devices, he will have an easier time with switching.
It can be uninstalled later at any time, unlike other Android distributions.

IME linux is half incompatible with intel macbooks (mac desktops are fine), e.g. –60% battery life, crash on sleep, crash on wake, crash for no reason at all, etc. I will be sincerely grateful to anyone who proves me wrong by providing an example of an nvidia macbook pro running linux smoothly.

You are both correct, which is why the SE is (was) their last phone with a shred of dignity.

During the first installation, right? Because OP will lose his mind with all the krashes and will reinstall it with GNOME.

>what laptop
Depends on your usecase. Generally I'd just recommend a PC instead, or both.
>phone
Weakest and most barebones one that can still do everything you actually need. Otherwise you'll be making a thread about how to escape phone addiction next.

windows laptops use worse parts
speakers, displays, keybords, cpu
expect half battery life running on low power setting
android phones are ok, avoid pajeet brands like Xiaomi or Oppo
