I actually did this but they were salvaged mains fans from power switching cabinets, they're made out of aluminum and insanely loud but my cpu is only slightly warmer than ambient all the time

If Noctua increased the thickness of their fans they would be just as effective and probably at lower noise. And oc even more expensive. I personally prefer cheap Arctic P14 PWM PST that I buy in "family packs" of five units. I need not have the absolute best because the difference in performance is rather marginal but the difference in price is considerable.

at the top end of performance, there's always been diminishing returns for your dollar, however for cooling and fans, nobody has been even close to noctua for the longest time, so noctua has been an easy go to for ages
but now competitors have manged to get close to their performance or even best them for cheaper, noctua are still probably the best overall, and if you weren't a retard you bought a d15 a decade ago and now enjoy new free socket mounting hardware in perpetuity
but for all the hordes of poors flooding the internet for the first time today, the price performance thing doesn't stack up for noctua, so in their mind its a meme

I have a bunch of Noctua fans in my computers, quite like them. Wish they would just fucking release the various G2 ones. It's been ages already.

When my nephew refreshed his setup he wanted a bunch of Phanteks fans to match the new case. I'd never handled any of them before, and they're good quality. D30s for the case fans and T30s for the aio fans.

People always whine about how much Noctuas cost, but even buying in packs of 3 (slight discount), the Phanteks fans were more expensive.
